The Ocean Race Europe: Jury gives repair to Team Holcim-PRB

The International Jury grants a repair to Team Holcim-PRB after the collision in Kiel
The International Jury of The Ocean Race has decided that Team Holcim-PRB has the right to a repair for Stage 1, which will be equal to the average points the team gets in stages 2 to 5 of The Ocean Race Europe, that is to say an average with the results of the other stages will be applied in stage 1. The team was forced to withdraw from Stage 1 of The Ocean Race Europe following a collision with Allagrande Mapei Racing. Both ships withdrew after contact, which occurred in the moments after the departure of the race in Kiel, Germany, two weeks ago. The Jury indicated that no further sanctions would be imposed on any of the teams (beyond the withdrawal of the first stage), but that Holcim-PRB was to be compensated (points for Stage 1) for being left out of it because of the incident.
The points assigned for Stage 1 will start to be applied in the classification after the result of the next stage in Nice, which will allow more days of competition to provide a precise evaluation of the performance of the equipment. Your score in Stage 1 will be updated after each stage as more results are added to the average. There will be no repair for the Scoring gate of Stage 1 and the points obtained at the remaining doors will not affect the repair. Both teams expressed their desire to focus now on the competition.
2025-08-23: The Ocean Race Europe: Paul Meilhat's Biotherm first in Cartagena

In the middle of the morning of Saturday, four ships remain in the water, with Allagrande Mapei Racing projected as the next to finish, first thing in the afternoon and just ahead of Team Malizia. The difference is small enough for this to change before Cartagena. Back is the Canadian team Be Water Positive and Team Amaala (Photo Jean-Louis Carli)
Paul Meilhat and his team in Biotherm remain perfect in the overall ranking of The Ocean Race Europe after adding all the points available in the three score opportunities of Stage 2, the longest of the event.
Biotherm took 16 points (two at the Needles Scoring Gate, seven at the Fly By of Matosinhos and seven at the arrival in Cartagena) at this stage, and now stands firmly at the top of the classification, ahead of Paprec Arkéa and Holcim PRB, their podium companions at Stage 2.
Provisional Classification in Cartagena
Biotherm - 25 points Paprec Arkéa - 18 points
Team Holcim PRB - 11 points
Team Malizia - 10 points (point slope in Cartagena)
Canada Ocean Racing - Be Water Positive - 6 points (point slope in Cartagena)
Team Amaala - 4 points (point slope in Cartagena)
Allagrande Mapei Racing - 3 points (point slope in Cartagena)
2025-08-22: The Ocean Race Europe: Paprec Arkéa passes to Biotherm in Portuguese waters

Sailing at full speed during the night, the crew of Yoann Richomme has been placed in the head, reaching the Gulf of Cadiz and passing Biotherm
l Fly By from Matosinhos to Porto barely lasted long enough for the regatists to take a break. Three hours after docking, the IMOCA fleet was already back at sea, heading south under conditions that every pattern would want. Paprec Arkéa, second to arrive in Porto and 42 minutes from Biotherm to reboot, did not waste time taking advantage of its advantage.
At 11: 00 UTC, Paprec Arkéa took nine miles of advantage, with Biotherm and Holcim-PRB very close in his wake. Alan Roberts, from Holcim, noted that the team had reached a new level... behind, Team Malizia is fourth, while Allagrande Mapei Racing and Canada Ocean Racing are pushing strong towards Gibraltar.
The leaders will pass Gibraltar this afternoon, bordering the exclusion zone north and near the coast to save miles. Beyond the strait, the foresight has changed. The conditions now seem softer than expected, with a more marked transition from the west winds to an eastern flow that will lead the fleet to Cartagena. That could benefit the persecuted ships, leaving Paprec Arkéa with even harder work to defend his advantage.

2025-08-20: The Ocean Race Europe: Fly-By in Matosinhos... Biotherm keeps the full

The fleet of The Ocean Race Europe broke into Matosinhos this morning after two and a half days of relentless race. He once again led Biotherm; Paul Meilhat's team is able to prolong its full victories by adding the seven points at stake at the mid-stage punctuable step door. Meilhat and his crew made the decisive movement in Cabo Finisterre, being the first to hook the new breeze on the west side of the fleet. From there they pressed and didn't let go of the lead.
At the close of this chronicle, three ships are still in a 20-mile race towards the punctuable passage door, with Allagrande Mapei Racing ahead of Canada Ocean Racing - Be Water Positive, and Team Amaala more unhung. From Matosinhos, the rest of stage 2 continues south, passing Lisbon and entering the feared funnel of the Strait of Gibraltar before the Mediterranean sprint towards Cartagena. Almost all ships have led at some point in this stage - Canada, Holcim-PRB, Paprec Arkéa, Malizia, Biotherm. Biotherm is the rival to beat, but with the fleet so tight, no one can feel safe.

2025-08-19: The Ocean Race Europe: all to decide with the fleet heading for Finisterre

Two days after the start of Stage 2 of The Ocean Race Europe, the Gulf of Vizcaya has offered exactly what was promised: tension, exhaustion and a fleet blocked in a technical tie. Less than five miles separate the first five ships as they approach Cabo Finisterre, without anyone getting off.
Since the regrouping in front of Ushant yesterday - when the fleet was compressed within a few miles after the leaders were slowed by the tide and the wind - the race has become a speed test. The flat sea and the light to moderate breeze have not left hidden, only hours of adjustment, trimming and manual rudder with the rivals in sight.
The battle on the head follows the edge of the knife. Team Holcim PRB and Biotherm have exchanged their leadership several times since yesterday afternoon, while Team Malizia, Canada Ocean Racing - Be Water Positive and Paprec Arkéa remain stalked.

The slow winds reorder the fleet, The Ocean Race Europe
The second stage of The Ocean Race Europe offered a night of extremes: the seven teams left Portsmouth at high speed with strong bearing winds, to stay dry in front of Ouessant in a glow.
After stretching to almost 40 miles between head and tail in the Canal, the fleet was compressed in just a few miles when the wind collapsed, creating the first big turning point of the stage.
The departure of Sunday afternoon from Cowes had provided perfect conditions, with the fleet down the Solent under spinnaker and with the tide. Biotherm again demonstrated its speed, achieving the maximum of points at the Needles' punctuable passage door, with Paprec Arkéa very close to getting the additional point added.
While Paprec Arkéa paid the price, Biotherm, Team Malizia and Be Water Positive chose the north route. It was the safest decision: Biotherm kept a close lead, while Be Water Positive even came to be put first for a while, a symbolic moment for Scott Shawyer's team. In the morning, just 15 hours after leaving Portsmouth, the seven IMOCA were resailing in almost a handkerchief.

2025-08-17: The Ocean Race Europe: Holcim PRB and Allagrande Mapei in Portsmouth ready

The skipper Rosalin Kuiper was excited at the pier when she saw her newly repaired ship arrive at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon, less than 24 hours from the start of Stage 2. It has been less than a week since a collision, shortly after the departure in Kiel, caused significant damage to both Team Holcim PRB and the Allagrande Mapei Racing. In the case of Holcim PRB, the contact between the ships caused damage to the hull: a rather large hole that had to be replaced and reinforced to ensure the strength and safety and thus allow the boat to return to the competition.

After a first stage in which the fleet sailed through the Baltic Sea, crossed the North Sea and entered the Channel of the Mancha, today it begins Stage 2 with a different challenge: a quick exit from the Solent, heading to the well-known waters of the Gulf of Vizcaya and to the Atlantic, with passage through Matosinhos, in the Great Port. The second stage is scheduled for departure from the Royal Yacht Squadron's departure line at 17: 00 local time on Sunday afternoon.
