The Ilca 6 Youth World Championship, which ended yesterday at the Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club in Los Angeles, has resulted in three top ten positions for Spanish regatists: Ainhoa Gómez has finished tenth in the female classification, Tim Lubat has also been tenth in the male general, and Nikko Palou has achieved a sixth meritorious position in the male Sub 17 category. The championship has been completed with six tests of the qualifying series and so many of the final series, with a participation of 140 boys and 81 girls in the competitive class Ilca 6.
The Tim Lubat (Real Club Nautico de Palma) has been able to play their cards well despite a black flag disqualification and some irregular partials. With two seconds in the qualifying series and a partial win in the finals, the Majorcan regatist gets the tenth place of the male general, after having proclaimed the youth European champion of Ilca 6 in Vilamoura in April; the second best Spanish has been his club partner Nikko Palou, who has finished the twenty-eighth of the general and the sixth in the category Sub 17.
In the female fleet, the representative of the Region of Murcia Ainhoa Gómez has been the tenth of the general. His locker has been very solid during the qualifying series, entering the top ten in all the tests, and in the final series he has managed to sign a partial win. The second best Spanish was the Canary Islands Patricia Caballero (RCN Gran Canaria), in the tenth position.
