The Galician representation in the World Championship of Piragüismo Sprint Júnior and Sub23 achieved in Montemor-o-Velho, with four medals and presence in up to nine finals. The Galician athletes contributed decisively to the Spanish medallion, especially in canoe disciplines.

Pablo Crespo (Piragüismo School City of Pontevedra) achieved silver in the C1 sub23 1000 meters, with a solid time of 3: 58.32. It was only overtaken by Italian Gabriele Casadei (3: 54.89), while Czech Adam Rudolf completed the podium with 4: 01.69.

They also reached the second step of the Claudia Couto podium (Escuela Piragüismo Ciudad de Pontevedra) and their partner Elena Gomez-Millán in the C2 sub23 200 meters, with a mark of 46.02. The victory was for the neutral boat formed by Trushkina and Nedelkina (44.95), and the bronze was on the other double of AIN Gureeva-Shliapnikova (46.26).

The third medal for Galicia was signed by Martín Jácome (Escuela Piragüismo Ciudad de Pontevedra), who achieved the silver in the final A of C1 sub23 200 meters, stopping the crone at 40,99. The gold was for Sergey Svinarev (AIN) with 40.71, and the bronze for Vitalii Prystai (Ukraine) with 41.21. The Galician balance of medals was completed with bronze in the C2 júnior 200 meters for Lara Remigio (Club Náutico O Muiño de Ribadumia) and Marta Castiñeiras (Club Piragüismo as Torres- Romeria Vikinga de Catoira), which crossed the goal in 48.04, behind Canada (46.05) and China (47.57).
