Puerto Calero renews its concession for 35 years

The final agreement was adopted unanimously at the meeting of the Board of Directors of Canary Ports held this morning in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where the extraordinary extension of the concession of the marina of Puerto Calero was officially approved, including the project, the planned investments and the updating of the concession canon
The company Calero Marinas has obtained the renewal of the concession of Puerto Calero for an additional period of 35 years, thus ensuring the continuity of a key infrastructure for the economic, social and tourist development of Lanzarote.
The renovation comes after a demanding and complex administrative process developed in coordination with the Association of Sports Ports of the Canary Islands, and successfully completed within the current legal period. It thus becomes the first concession of the Canary Islands renewed within its original period, setting a precedent for future concessions in the archipelago.
This milestone is much more than an administrative extension: it is the recognition of more than four decades of effort, vision and commitment. A road that began in 1982, when José Calero Rodríguez, at the age of 35, decided to shape an idea that seemed impossible: to build the first marina of Lanzarote and to develop a new tourist sector on the island, the nautical. Today, a few days after the age of 80, the founder celebrates not only the renewal of the concession, but the continuity of a collective dream.
A new period will begin, allowing investments to be made in excess of EUR 12 million, focusing on infrastructure modernization, service optimization and the implementation of a management model based on energy efficiency, sustainability and technological innovation. Among the actions planned is the incorporation of intelligent information systems and services of the latest generation than to Puerto Calero in the vanguard of the European nautical sector.
