Trasmed launches a pioneering and breaking idea: Captain for a day

Trasmed launches Captain for a day, a pioneering initiative in Spain to bring maritime culture closer to the smallest
Transmed, the Spanish shipping company of the Grimaldi Group, premiere, this Monday, a new activity on board its ships with the aim of bringing the younger to the world of the sea and to the professions linked to the maritime transport. Under the name Captain for a day, the initiative, a pioneer in Spain, takes place during the journey between the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands and includes a series of workshops and visits aimed at the children's public.
The proposal combines outreach, entertainment and direct contact with the crew. Children who participate will go through different areas of the ship as they discover the role of key figures such as the captain, the head of machines or the first officer among others. They will also learn to make sea knots, access the command bridge and hold a meeting with one of the ship's captains, who will welcome them as future captains.
In addition, the aim is to ensure that, for one day, children travelling with Trasmed become real members of the crew living, in the first person, a real, didactic, participatory and vocational experience on the high seas.
At the end of the activity, each participant will receive a custom diploma as a memory of the experience. In addition, a thematic photocall has been installed on board that will allow families to capture the moment with the smallest ones characterized as real captains or captains for one day.
With this proposal, the company seeks to promote knowledge of the maritime environment and to transmit values such as teamwork, responsibility and respect for the marine environment. In this sense, the director of Passage and Mk of the shipping company, Jana Peiró, has explained that with 'Captain for a day' we offer an unforgettable experience, designed for the little ones to live closely in the maritime world and sit part of our crew and to awaken curiosity and vocation for the professions of the sea, transmitting the values of teamwork, respect and passion for the environment.
