Mount Real celebrates the first 50 years of the Count of Gondomar Trophy

The details were offered this noon in the official presentation of the event, in which the president and comodoro of Monte Real, José Luis Álvarez and Ignacio Sánchez Otaegui participated; and the marketing director of Zelnova Zeltia, Adrián Salgado. The mayor of Baiona, Jesús Vázquez Almuiña; the director of sports of the Diputación de Pontevedra, Xisela Aranda; the provincial head of Tourism of the Xunta de Galicia in Pontevedra, Felipe Ferrero; and the responsible for communication and hospital presence of the association Bicos de Papel (Photo Clara Giraldo) also attended.
The Mount Real Club of Yates will celebrate, from 24 to 27 July, the 50 Trophy Conde de de Gondomar- Gran Prix Zelnova Zeltia, a particularly significant edition that commemorates the half-century of life of one of the most emblematic and exciting races of the Spanish candle, which has been unabated since 1976... have spent half a century since that fantastic board of directors who presided over the unforgettable Rafael Olmedo and in which were part those who created the foundations necessary to support the current Monte Real... Fernando Massó, Chema Retolaza, Humberto Cervera, Rafael Monto, José Manuel Tocarto, José Manuel Píz, Pínáz,...
It was a complicated edition with a rise and down to Muros plus an Olympic tour... planning that was drastically varied with the II Lymington- Baiona when it was possible to run the high race with a Baiona-Póvoa do Varzimo-Baiona route... that in which the Moonduster of Denis Doyle... a Swan from another galaxy took the Count (the fifth edition) ahead of the Cutty Sark... in which José María García Lastra and Javier de la Gandara sailed among others. Then in 1981 he appeared on the idea of Fernando García Tobío el Carrumeiro Chico and until today. Looks like it was yesterday, but they've had a 50-year-old friera.
These will be the attractive news that the Royal Mount has launched to celebrate proudly the achievement of achieving with brilliance this 50 edition: the Carrumeiro Chico Trophy is the shortest in content and the longest in distance. It includes a single test, the great journey between Baiona and the lighthouse of the Corcubion ria, the considered queen stage of the Count of Gondomar, almost 100 miles away. He'll have his own classifications and prizes, including a boat trophy that completes the layout in the shortest possible time. The Count of Gondomar Trophy is the most complete, including all the competition tests: the stage reigns to the Carrumeiro Chico on Friday 25, two sticks on Saturday 26 in the afternoon, and a return to Ons on Sunday 27. And the Erizana Trophy, destined for the ORC and J80 who do not participate in the Carrumeiro stage. For them, as an alternative, there will be a coastal race on Friday 25th afternoon. The rest of the tests will be the same as for the rest of the teams: the sticks on Saturday and the return to Ons on Sunday. Each of these trophies will give prizes to the first three classified. There will also be a special prize to the fastest sailboat to complete the Baiona-Carrumeiro Chico Baiona tour, and a great prize to the winner of the general, who will receive the absolute winner of ORC.
