The waters of the Minor Sea have offered very good conditions for the class 470 Youth World Championship, which has been awarded with a strong victory for the Israelites Roy Lavy and Ariel Gal after a complete program with 11 tests and the Medal Race. Spain has been represented by two new crews, who take a very good look at this championship as the first starting point in their Olympic dream.

The Israeli tandem has crowned itself a 470 youth world champion before the Medal Race, thanks to the great advantage accumulated over its immediate pursuers, and has also taken the title in category Sub 21. The French Lomane Valade and Julien Bunel and Italians Livia Ciampinelli and Nicola Brunotti have completed the podium in this order.

The best-qualified Spaniards have been the duo formed by the Canaries Paula Laiseca (RCN Gran Canaria) and Miguel Bethencourt (RCN Arrecife), which have ended in the twenty-fifth position. Two positions later have been positioned the Catalan Pol Mateu (CN El Balís) and the Majorcan Mar Gil (CV Port Andratx).

These are two crews that accumulate a few hours of navigation on board the 470, whose aim in this race was "to make contact with the youth fleet and to detect the real needs to work in next training cycles," in the words of the technician of the Royal Spanish Vela Federation who has accompanied them, Hugo Fernández.

The fleet has been composed of a total of 42 ships from a total of 20 countries, and has been able to complete all the planned tests thanks to winds between 8 and 15 knots of intensity each day. Ete was the final top five.
