The second day of the Puig Vela Classica offered another good day of race to the participating fleet of Big Boats, which has enjoyed an excellent field of race. The wind, soft and constant from the south, has blown between 10 and 8 knots of intensity, raising just a soft tidal and allowing for rapid and incident-free navigation.
After the departure, at the height of the dismantling beacon, the Yanira (RCN Barcelona), carried by Jan Heuninck, used its strategy and performance to lead the fleet, to raise its blue spies and to keep its head up to the goal, ahead of the other participants. After the 2 hours and 27 minutes used to complete the tour, his good doing and the qualities of his ship in these conditions were worth imposing in Classics 1 for 25 minutes on the Nerissa (RC Maritim Barcelona), of Leonardo García, after the compensation of times, which in turn took advantage of in just 40 seconds!! the third classified, the Kahurangi (RCN Barcelona), of Pepe de Miguel.
The general classification, after accumulating the two disputed tests, heads the Yanira (2 points), while tomorrow the Nerissa and the Kahurangi will direct their current tie to 5 points to define the final podium. In Classics 2, today's results have been identical to those of yesterday, with the British Clarionet (BC Yacht Club), by Andrew Harvey, with 2 points, followed by the Kanavel (RCN Barcelona), by Javier Mestre, with 4 points, compared to the 6 of the third classified, the Sea Fever (CN Vilanova), by Enrique Curt.

Barcelona will again become the world capital of the classical candle with the beginning of the 2025 edition of the Puig Vela Classica; the floating museum of the classical candle returns to Barcelona... Mariska, Yanira, Clarionet, Amorita, Le temps Perdu and Stiletto leaders
The struggle between the Big Boats Mariska and Hallowe'en, who sailed in parallel and measured in an intense duel, was memorable in the first stretch, where going out was supposed to be lost. For more than a mile they hunted necks and adjusted candles for maximum performance. Finally, it was the Hallowe 'in which he chose to dismark himself, moving away from the coast and thereby giving way to the Mariska.
The second tranche, of strict, did not allow to sail directly, requiring one or even more transferee maneuvers, which in these vintage ships always pose a challenge to complete them without errors or failures. A good opportunity for the more talented crews to win their rivals meters. The following two sections were more simple, in direct and fast ways, which did not offer tactical opportunities, but they did allow those who best knew to squeeze the potential of their ships to shine.
Big Boats confirmed the victory of the Mariska, patronized by Dan Pojsak, who after the time compensation was imposed for only 37 seconds on the Hallowe'en, carried by Iñigo Strez, after the 2: 18 hours that took to complete the tour. Third was the Star Sapphire of London, by Jakob Glatz, and closed the classification by Gael I, by Gael Sas.
It had two classifications, according to the size of the ships. In Classics 1 was imposed the Yanira, of Jan Heuninck, followed by the Kahurangi, of Pepe de Miguel, both of the Royal Nautical Club of Barcelona. He completed the podium of the day the Nerissa, by Leonardo García, which competes for the Real Club Marítimo in Barcelona. The best of the day between the Classics 2 was the British Clarionet, by Andrew Harvey, who preceded the Kanavel (RCN Barcelona), by Javier Mestre, and the Sea Fever (CN Vilanova), by Enrique Curt.
