Nacho Baltasar and Pilar Lamadrid top bazas of Spain at the iQFoil World Cup
Ten Spanish windsurfers take part in Aarhus's appointment, whose trials begin this Sunday
The Nacho Baltasar and Pilar Lamadrid windsurfers are the main bazas of the Spanish pre-Olympic sailing team at the iQFOiL World Championship, which is disputed from this Sunday and until Friday 11 in the waters of the Danish town of Aarthus. The two regatists, who represented Spain at the last Paris Games 2024, lead a national selection of ten athletes. In the male category, in addition to the Nacho Baltasar ballast, there will also be the Mallorcan Bernat Tomás, a member of the pre-Olympic team, and the Catalan Sandro Portune and Guillem Segu, members of the 2032 combination.
In the female category, there are six national representatives. The Andalusian Pilar Lamadrid will be accompanied by the Andrea Torres ballast, whose latest results have allowed it to be integrated into the pre-Olympic team, in addition to four components of the 2032 and N3 groups: the Mallorcan Barbara Winau, the Catalan Julia Gómez, the Valencian Martina Mantovani and the canary Enrichetta Bettini.
Baltasar and Lamadrid face the world event with the aim of entering the Medal Series. In both categories the fleets are not only very numerous, with 118 men and 80 women from 40 countries, but also highly competitive, with the presence of all the Olympic medalists in Paris 2024: the Italian Marta Maggetti, the Israeli Sharon Kantor and the British Emma Wilson in the female fleet, and the Israeli Tom Reuveny, the Australian Gray Morris and the Dutch Luuc Van Opzeeland in the male category.
