Victory of Spain at the Optimist World Cup in Slovenia

The Spanish team of Optimist has managed to revalidate the title of world champion by teams this afternoon in waters of the Slovenian town of Portoroz, after defeating Singapore in the final for 2-0, being bronze the United States team. The national combination has been formed by the Valencian Alejandro Valero, the Catalan Juan Lleonart, the Balear Jan Palou, the Canaria Marta Mansito and the Andalusian Mar Infante, under the orders of Fernando Alegre and Julián Viciano as coaches. Mansito was already a member of the Spanish team that hung the gold in last year's edition, so it is crowned bicampeona of the world by teams.

This is the third consecutive medal for Spain in this world-class team racing event, following the gold obtained also in Singapore at last year's Team World Cup, played in December in Mar del Plata (Argentina), and the silver from the 2023 edition, which took place on the Costa Brava (Girona), under the organization of the Club de Vela Ballena Alegre.

For this edition there are more than a hundred ships distributed in eight classes of ORC and in J80 monotypes. The competition began last 27 June, with an offshore race, and it will be this week when from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 July are held the tours of barlovento-sotavento batons, in which the team of Mercedes-Benz Valdisa, armed by Álvaro Fernández Candau, regatta in the class ORC 1, which is the largest and with a higher level... the team will sail through the Real Club Marítimo and Tennis of Punta Umbria and the RCN of Barcelona. It will have the main sponsorship of Mercedes-Benz Valdisa, the leading concessionaire in the Spanish Eleva, and with the technical collaboration of The Westin Hotel Valencia, North-Sails, Bollè sunglasses and HSN.

The ship is a DK46, which reaches the Chese waters, after being proclaimed champions of the Count of Godó Trophy in Barcelona. The crew maintains the strong core of other seasons and will count in their ranks with the Grancan Olympic Luis Martínez Dureste, to the navigation will be Olympic medalist Roberto Molina, and the tactic will be in charge of the young Valencian regatist Juan Calvo. The trimmers will be Ricardo Terrades a la mayor, the Sevillian Nacho Murube al spinnaker and the Olympic Canary Tunte Cantero al foque. The Sevillans Nacho Montes will control the braze, the piano will be the responsibility of Álvaro Fernández with the support of the German Peter Fischer... in the bow the champion of the world of snipe, the lanzaroteño Cristian Sánchez, the Sevillian Arturo Montes as half bow and the canary Adolfo López Quevedo on the stick.

The date scheduled for Thursday, October 2, in Saint- Tropez will be the tenth edition of the Gstaad Yacht Club Centenary Trophy. This unique race is reserved exclusively for classic yachts that are at least 100 years old. As in previous years, the event will take place on the prestigious stage of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, promising another colorful and memorable chapter in the history of this exceptional career. On the ground, the Gstaad Yacht Club will be a window of Switzerland with the third edition of the Swiss Night on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, which will take place at Place des Lices.
