The Wizner brothers are proclaimed in Greece the 49th Absolute European Champions
Martin and Jaime Wizner have proclaimed themselves the absolute champions of Europe of 49er, which ended today in the Hellenic city of Thessaloniki that hosted the appointment with the two categories, both male and female of the 49er, also welcoming the Nacra 17.
The performance of the olive duet has been growing in positive terms as the days advanced in the competition, going from an initial day with average results, to this final outcome in which they have recorded the best positions throughout the championship, with partials of 1-3-7, among a fleet of more than half a hundred representatives of all the countries that make up the old continent.
As a coach of the Wizner, another Galician of great wisdom such as the Vilagardean Ero Pons, with great baggage as part of the Spanish Olympic Sailing Team.
In another order of things, great success also for two other viguesas, Patricia Suárez, who sails with the Mallorcan Melania Henke as his partner; and Stella Henríquez, with another shooting as is Mar Gil. The first ones have managed to get into the Spanish Olympic Team Selection thanks to their tenth absolute European position, and the second ones have achieved the best result, also absolute, in an international competition, having both as coach to another Galician, such as the Portosinense Marcos Fernández.
Yamamay wins her fifteenth Cruise Bizkaia Championship at the Abra
The Yamamay by Javier Gallo continues to make history in the Bizkaia Cruise Championship, in which they took part in the waters of the Abra almost 30 participating boats. The fast Swan 42 cantabre was established with authority in the Regata class and in the absolute general to have his fifteenth title in one of the most important tests of those held in the Cantabric, while the NJ Guipuzcoan of Iker Almandoz won in Cruise I, the Kohen of Juan Carlos Estefania in Cruise II and the Obelix of Pablo Gomeza in the J80 class after the final day of Sunday. The final tests were first carried out with north wind and then it was rolled north-east from 5 to 8 knots.
The Yamamay, of the Royal Maritime Club of Santander, patronized by Javier Gallo, was imposed on the four tours celebrated throughout the weekend and confirmed its status as a great favorite to raise the trophy of the winner that it has already won with it on 15 occasions. The second square in the classification of this Regata class, four points from the Yamamay, was for the Imperial Bullbox, Club Náutico San Esteban, patroniado by Sebastiano Napoli, while the Taxus Ambiente de José Rabano, Club Bahía de Gijón, completed the podium. The Mylla cantabre of Francisco Javier Sánchez ended in fourth place. The Kenex, Txupinazo, Rat Pack, Symphony and Despeined were then classified.
For its part, the Cruise class I, where there was change in the course of the first test from course 350 to 10, was for the NJ of Iker Almandoz, of the Nautical Club of Hondarribia, with four other first positions, followed by the Abanca Bisagras of Francisco Javier Rivero and the Thelonious of Jon Garay, of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club. The Kribi, El Pendo, Turi, Nexus, Gorilon and Cyclone were then located. In addition, the Kohen of Juan Carlos Estefanía was first in Cruise II ahead of Manila, Ramper and Emilu. The Obelix of Pablo Gomeza ended first in the J80 division after the five tours, with the second Fingolfin, the third Jet Set and the fourth Ausart.
The final general that covered all the classes was for the Yamamay (3 points), followed by the NJ of Iker Almandoz (8 points) and the Taxus Ambiente de José Rabano (9 points), tied with the Bullbox also Asturian of Luis Noguera. The Regatas Committee chaired by Pablo Ituri, in two complicated days, managed to carry out the four scheduled tests, with entry to the interior Abra in the fourth and last of Sunday. In addition, the Royal Maritime Club of Santander was imposed on the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club in the Interclub Trophy.
