The Spanish Olympic and Paralympic Sailing Team already think of Rio 2016

The CEAR Prince Felipe de Santander has today hosted the presentation of the Spanish Olympic and Paralympic Sailing Teams that will participate in the next JJOO of Rio 2016.
The event was attended by the president of the government of Cantabria, Miguel Ángel Revilla; the president of the RFEV, Julia Casanueva and by the CSD, Carlota Castrejana and COE, Ricardo Leiva.
Spain has been classified for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in nine of the ten Olympic sailing classes, all but the Finn. The Laser Radial class has been the last to get the classification, which is not yet defined the regatists that will represent Spain and that will be decided during the Kieler Woche, race to be held from 22 to 26 June in Germany.
A total of 270 regatists from 62 participating countries will participate, apart from Brazil as host nation, only France, Britain and the United States have classified all classes, ten. They follow you with nine Spain, Australia, Argentina, Canada and Italy.
The Spanish Olympic Vela Team, which runs Toni Ripoll, presents itself to the great Olympic event of Rio 2016 as the sport that has given Spain the most medals in all history, a total of 19 medals, 13 of them gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze, and 25 diplomas.
The regatists and classes classified are RS: X Feminino, Marina Pémau; RS: X Male, Ivan Pastor; Laser Standard, Joaquín Blanco; 470 Female, Bàrbara Cornudella and Sara López; 470 Male, Jordi Xammar and Joan Herp; 49er, Diego Botín and Iago López Marra; FX, Támara Echegoyen and Berta Betanzos and Nacra 17, Fernando Echávarri and Tara Pacheco.
In London were two medals harvested, both of gold, Marina Paliau in the RS class: X Feminino and Támara Echegoyen, Angela Pumariega and Sofia Toro in Elliot 6m, under the form of match race competition. And a diploma, an eighth Finn post with Rafa Trujillo.
A team with three oars in their ranks
The members of the Spanish Olympic sailing team that will participate in Rio 206, make up to half a hundred medals in Olympic dating and world and continental Olympic class championships throughout their career.
At Olympic Games, the members of the current team have achieved three oros: Fernando Echávarri (Beijing 2008), Marina Paliau and Támara Echegoyen (London 2012).
Counting World and European of this Olympic cycle, they add five medals in absolute category: in World, Gold in 2016 for Támara Echegoyen and Berta Betanzos in FX and silver in 2014 for Marina Paliau in RS: X Women. In European in 2016, gold for Diego Botín and Iago López Marra in 49er and bronze for Támara Echegoyen and Berta Betanzos in FX; in 2016 gold for Tara Pacheco.
Three out of three in Paralympics
This will be the first time that Spain has classified all classes in Paralympic Games, under the direction of Alfred Buqueras. In this case the three, in the individual class 2.4mR, Arturo Montes; in the double class, Skud 18, Sergi Roig and Violeta of the Kingdom and in the triple, Sonar, Paco Llobet - which was Olympic in London 2012 in 2.4mR - Héctor García and Manu Giménez.
