The Catalan Majorcan crew has led the championship since the first day, last Monday. During six days of competition and 12 sleeves with very varied wind and wave conditions in Croatian waters, the new European champions have signed four first, four second, a third, a fourth and a sixth, as well as the discards. Along with Xammar and Cardona on the top of the podium, the British Wrigley and Harris, who were imposed in the past Princess Sofia Trophy, have gone up to the second drawer. The French Matisse Pacaud and Lucie De Gennes have completed the places of honor.
Jordi Xammar (Barcelona, 1993) was bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with Nicolás Rodríguez and finished fourth with Nora Brugman on the Paris 2024 meeting, which were their third Olympic Games. In absolute world championships of 470, he holds four medals: the 2018 bronze, the 2019 silver, another bronze in 2021 and the 2024 gold. In European championships, today's continental title with Marta Cardona is its sixth podium, after the bronze of 2017, three plates in 2019, 2021 and 2022 and last year's gold.
Sailing with the also Mallorcan Maria Perelló in 420 (the younger brother of 470), Marta Cardona (Palma, 2005) proclaimed himself the champion of the world and of Europe in 2021, and in 2022 won the gold of the Youth Sailing World Championship and the silver of the World Championship. After sailing on 49er FX, his move to mixed 470 last December came caused by Nora Brugman's farewell from the Olympic race.
