Next September, the olive city will receive the fleet of one of the world's most emblematic solo races, which this year is its 56th edition... Vigo and its port will again be the scene of one of the great international ocean races: La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec, considered the cradle of the great regatists who later face challenges back to the world.

Twenty years after the departure of the World Tour in 2005, the Rías Baixas and Vigo, thanks to the support of the Recession of Pontevedra, will again vibrate with a race of great tradition and prestige, which this year celebrates its 56th edition. "For the Port of Vigo it is a pride to welcome one of the stages of La Solitaire du Figaro 2025, one of the most emblematic offshore races of the international calendar," said Carlos Botana, president of the Harbour Authority of Vigo.

From French Britain, from Morlaix Bay - to the entrance of the Channel of the Mancha - and after doubling the Birvideaux lighthouse, north of the Atlantic island of Belle-Ile-en-Mer, the fleet will set its way to Finisterre, then descending the Galician coast to reach the Rías Baixas. It will be a 565 nautical mile stage, with official entrance between the headlights of Tofiño and Borneira, which mark access to the port of Vigo. After entering the river of Vigo on September 18, the port's dársenas will be filled with life again with the arrival of a fleet of 40 ocean monocascos of the Figaro class 3. For four days, both the pants and the village - sports, cultural and playful for the younger, as well as gastronomic thanks to the "Galicia tres a mar" campaign of the Xunta de Galicia - will be the epicenter of nautical and citizen activity.

Sunday 21 September will be the great day: the farewell of the fleet from the docks of the port and, later, the departure of the 40 ships from the heart of the river of Vigo, with the city and the bridge of Rande as a backdrop. An unforgettable picture that will evoke historical moments like the Volvo Ocean Race in 2005 or the Cutty Sark in 1998. The exit pistolet from Vigo will be the beginning of the final stage of La Solitarie du Figaro 2025 towards Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, in the middle of the Channel of the Mancha, point and end after 612 miles (1133 km) of the stage and the 56th edition of La Solitarie du Figaro Paprec. Carlos Botana concluded by encouraging that "we want the Port of Vigo to be a great party, not only sports, but also cultural."
