The official presentation was held this morning in the Puerto Vigo, with the intervention of the Conselleiro do Mar, Alfonso Villares; the president of the Harbour Authority of Vigo, Carlos Botana; the vice president of the Diputación de Pontevedra, Luisa Sánchez; the delegate of the Xunta in Vigo, Ana Ortiz; Daniel Benavides, of the Xeral Secretariat for or Sport; and Celso González, president of the Nautical Cluster Rías Baixas, as well as our advisor and president of the Club Marítimo de Vigo, Zulema, will be a place between the 25th of the Rlegado and the 25th of the Festival of La Vigo. Organized by the Nautical Cluster Association Rías Baixas, the event has the support of the Conselleria do Mar, the Xeral Secretariat for or Sport, the Diputación de Pontevedra, the Harbour Authority of Vigo and Abanca, with the special collaboration of Gadis and Anfaco. During his intervention, the owner of the Sea stressed that Galicia has an area of more than 1,600 kilometres of coast, with three provinces with sea, 16 rias, about 80 coastal municipalities and more than half of the Galician population settled in these areas. "A coastline with a rich cultural, natural and historical heritage of great value, closely linked to the identity of the Community, which is an exceptional attraction for nautical tourism, with strategic importance." For his part, the president of the Harbour Authority of Vigo, Carlos Botana, very positively appreciated the fact that this type of activities are maintained in time and consolidated. "We are already going through the 5th edition of this festival, in which we try to bring the sea and the nautical activities closer to all the public, but especially to the little ones, to whom we also teach the importance of sport, as well as to know and defend the environmental values that we have in the Ria," he said. In addition, Luisa Sánchez added value to the "success" of turning Blue Week into a festival, meaning "to launch a more dynamic and accessible program for a wider audience, strengthening the message that the sea is a space for meeting, culture, leisure and opportunities." In this regard, the provincial vice-president noted that "the Ria de Vigo is a privileged space for its natural and landscape value and its enormous potential as an engine of sustainable economic development." Finally, Celso González, president of the Nautical Cluster Rías Baixas, stressed that the Blue Festival "is a meeting space between the sea and society," so "our intention is to value all that the maritime environment offers in terms of culture, sport, health and economic development." In this context, the 2025 Blue Festival will offer a rich and varied programming designed to bring the culture of the sea closer to all citizens. Among the activities planned are initiatives to surf, sailing and pyragüism, boat rides through the river, visits to traditional boats, interpretative routes, dissemination workshops on marine biodiversity and ocean literacy sessions aimed at schoolchildren. Diving activities, paddle surfing, wakeboard, exhibitions, shows with local products and meetings with professionals in the maritime and fishing sector will also be offered. The programming includes proposals specially designed for schools and associations, as part of the festival's commitment to the training and awareness of young people. As a novelty of this edition, a photo contest with a nautical theme is called for amateur people. The images can address aspects such as the relationship with the sea, marine biodiversity, coastal tourism or nautical activities. The competition will have three winners, to be announced on Sunday, May 25. The first two prizes will receive an economic endowment, while the third prize will consist of a pack of seawater products. Interested persons may consult the basis of the competition on the association's website.
