The registration of recreational craft in the first four months of 2025 (energy-April) is 1,352 compared to 1,531 in the same period of the previous year. These are the data from the monthly report prepared by ANEN with the records provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy. Of the total number of registered registrations between January and April, 68.2% are for private-use vessels and 31.8% are for ships for nautical charter.
The length segment between 12 and 16 meters is positive in this period, with up to April 50 enrolments representing a growth of 28.2% over the same period of 2024.
The rest of the length falls. The smaller boats, up to 8 meters long, continue to lead the nautical market (86.2%) and record, until April of this year, 1,165 enrollments, which is a decrease of -13.6% over the same period of 2024.
The length of 16 meters (representing 0.8% of the nautical market) is 26.7%.

Market segmentation
The water bikes record the greatest fall between January and April this year (-28.5%). On the positive side are the folding pneumatic that increase their enrolments by 45.5%.
Motor ships, the market with the highest share (44,5%), have a -12,4% registration over the same period of 2024. Registration of sailboats (-12.7%) and semi-rigid pneumatic vessels (-1.3%) also fall.

Rental market
The nautical charter market (boat rental) has recorded 430 registration of recreational boats for this use compared to 561 in the same period of 2024.
By length, boats up to 6 metres are the most representative in the charter market. By type of boat, motor boats and water bikes remain the most registered for rental use.
Enrolment by province
The Balearic Islands (199), Barcelona (172) and Alicante (117) maintain the first market positions in terms of the number of registered vessels. With regard to the same quarter of 2024, enrolments in the Balearic Islands fall by -31.6%, in Barcelona they grow by 22% and in Alicante they also have an increase of 6.4%.
Other provinces with high enrolment and growth of records are Murcia (100), which is growing by 20.5% over the same period last year, Pontevedra (64) with a growth of 52.4% and Cadiz (62) with a growth of 24%,
The charter market continues to be led by the Balearic Islands, which record 118 boat registrations for rental use and a fall of -31.8%. Barcelona is the next province with more boats registered for rental use (57) between January and April of this year, and has a growth of 32.6%.
