The Ocean Race 2027 returns to Auckland, Portixol is in the Sofia
The Ocean Race will recover its classic scale in Auckland in 2027
The Ocean Race, the world's toughest team competition, will return to Auckland in the 2027 edition of the emblematic ocean race back to the world. Known as the City of Las Velas, Auckland will again welcome the race in March 2027, which will mean the return home of an event deeply rooted in the city's maritime heritage.
Over the decades, Auckland has become synonymous with excellence in the ocean candle. New Zealand legends like Sir Peter Blake and Grant Dalton have registered their names in the record book of the event in recent decades. New Zealand's most recent sailing stars like Peter Burling and Blair Tuke were the local idols on the last time the race that took place in New Zealand in 2018, while Daryl Wislang, the double winner of the race, also won The Ocean Race VO65 Sprint in 2023.
Portixol, premiere as new Olympic sailing site at Princess Sofia 2025
The Sofia includes one more piece to its extensive logistic puzle in Palma Bay. The classic Majorcan Olympic candle will provide a new operating base in its 54 edition to facilitate the experience of regatists and organization. A new operations centre in Es Portixol, between Can Pascilla and Palma, will for the first time house the nearly 200 teams that have confirmed their participation in iQFOiL Men and iQFOiL Women categories.
The 54 Princess Sofia Mallorca Trophy by Fergus Hotels is part of the Sailing Grand Slam 2025 next to the Semaine Olympique Française, the Dutch Water Week, the Kieler Woche and the Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta.
