The Palamós Optimist Trophy completes the 550 registered with record from participating countries

The gerundense race has become the largest in the world in open base sailing waters, to be held from 12 to 16 February 2025 in the waters of Palamós Bay.

The 35 International Palamós Optimist Trophy-19 Nations Cup, to be held from 12 to 16 February, closed the registration a few days ago after the maximum quota of 550 ships was completed. This year it will also have a record of 31 participating countries. The Palamós Optimist Trophy and Palamós Christmas Race have become a reference of the tourist-náutico-sports in and around the town, with the arrival of about 1000 people, among athletes, coaches and companions.

The gerundense race has been the largest in the world in open waters for several years, making it attractive. In this year's edition in addition to the Spanish participation, which traditionally the largest with 175, it is followed by this order France (109), Switzerland (56), Turkey and the United States (42) and Poland (22). There are also participants from Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and Tajikistan, among others.

As for the detail of the participation numbers, there will be 364 boys and 186 girls, who will fight together in the same race field and in the same conditions to get the absolute trophy and also by male and female categories, as well as in sub12 and sub13.

In just two days the Moraira Nautical Club launches its most emblematic race: 300 Miles A3, Grefusa Trophy, will be on Thursday, January 23. An edition that meets its 24 years of history and also meets the objectives set by the Organizing Committee and that was no other than to exceed the 30 ships registered, being today 32 units that will be on the starting line.

Great atmosphere with units such as the Aquarelle 1-Varadero Valencia de Arturo Meseguer, sailing under the grympola of the RCN of Valencia, which heads a list in which there are first-level ships and historical ships of the race, in addition to those that achieved a prominent position in the table in the edition of 2024. Among them are the Smerit (CV Blues) of Tito Moure, second in Group A or the Guaguanco 4 (CN Altea) armed by Thierry Lallemand, third in Group B in the same edition.
