Spanish of Piragüismo: José María Esteban Celorrio president of the Gestora Commission

José María Esteban Celorrio, has been appointed new Chairman of the Management Commission of the Royal Spanish Federation of
Piragüism
With the resignation of Javier Hernanz as President of the Gestora Commission to be able to present his candidacy for the presidency of the RFEP and thus renew his term of office another four years, the Commission itself has appointed as President José María Esteban Celorrio, a historical reference of the Spanish pyragüism that was part, together with Herminio Menéndez, José Ramón Diaz-Flor and Luis Gregorio Ramos Missioné, of the mythical K4 that achieved for Spain the first Olympic medal of the modality, being silver in the JOO of Montreal- 1976.
His track record stands out both for his sporting achievements and for his dedication to the development of pyragüism since the early years of the federation. He has been President of the Aragonese Federation until last year and accompanied Javier Hernanz in the First Vice-President of the National Federation during this last term.
Esteban Celorrio is currently president of the Helios de Zaragoza Club, an entity that celebrates its centenary on January 13, consolidating itself as a pillar of sport in Spain. His appointment strengthens the values and experience in sports management, ensuring an orderly transition at this key stage for the RFEP.
The electoral process will be conducted in accordance with the electoral calendar approved by the High Council for Sports, ensuring the participation of the members of the General Assembly in the election of the new president on 25 January at the COE, with two candidates only:
• Javier Hernanz, endorsed by 62 Assemblies.
• José Alfredo Bea, supported by 12 Assemblies.
