Palamós has given the start of the 48 edition of the Christmas Race, the traditional winter international race that is held from 19 to 22 December in the waters of the Bay of Palamós. A total of 239 crews from 16 countries, distributed among the classes Ilca4 Male and Female, Ilca6 Male and Female, 420 Male / Female and Female and 29er Male / Female.

And he did it at an opening ceremony in the Village on the Great Platja with the presence of athletes and authorities. The president of the Club Nàutic Costa Brava-Vela Palamós, Eduard Sallés and the mayor of Palamós, Lluís Puig were in charge of the opening of this edition and were accompanied by the vice president of the Diputació de Girona, Maria Puig; Yolanda Aguilar, a sports councilwoman of Ajuntame de Palamós; Narcís Casassa, director of the Servis Territorial d'Esports of the Generalitat de Catalunya and Cintia Bosch, a maritime captain of Palamós.

The Palamós Christmas Race meets its quadragésimeighth edition as an international race. This Wednesday will be a day of inscriptions and opening ceremony at 18: 30. And from Thursday until Sunday, December 22, the competition will be held.

A total of 239 crews, representing a total of 382 regatists and 60 coaches, are involved in 8 categories. Ilca6 Male (36), Ilca6 Female (27), Ilca4 Male (20), Ilca4 Female (9), 420 Male / Female (89), 420 Female (21), 29er Male / Female (25), 29er Female (12).

As for countries, the number of countries is 16: Argentina (1), Belgium (3), Bermuda (1), France (45), Finland (3), Germany (2), Italy (45), the Netherlands (12), Poland (26), Switzerland (8), Spain (2), Sweden (2), Turkey (3), and Ukraine (9).
