The Spanish team formed by Mateo Carbonell, Iker Múgica, Marta Mansito, Amalia Coll and Joan Domingo is made with the Optimist World Championship in Mar del Plata, Argentina.

Spain proclaimed itself an undisputed champion of the Optimist World Championship by defeating Singapore in an exciting final. After a preliminary round in which 42 teams participated, the top 16 moved to the final phase. This elite group included Peru, Argentina, Canada, Singapore, Puerto Rico, Malta, Slovenia, Denmark, Italy, Turkey, Great Britain, Brazil, Greece, France, Croatia and Spain.

Despite the loose winds, the competition was intense, and many races were decided for a few centimeters. Spain quickly imposed itself, winning all the races and securing a direct position in the final.
Argentina and Brazil were eliminated by a powerful team from Singapore, who finally faced Puerto Rico in semi-finals. Puerto Rico secured the bronze medal.

In the final to the best of three, Spain continued its impressive performance, defeating Singapore by 2-0. The Spanish team, composed of Mateo Carbonell, Joan Domingo, Iker Mugica, Marta Mansito and Amalia Coll, celebrated its world title with a retired jump into the water. The individual races of the World Championship, organized by the Mar del Plata Nautico Club and the IODA, will continue today. With the forecast of strong winds for the next three days, the competition is expected to be even more exciting and unpredictable. Joan Domingo occupies second position and Joan Carbonell completes the podium.
