70 essential headlights of the peninsular Spain by Felix González Muñiz
Félix González Muñiz, the well-known Asturian nautical photographer, publishes a new book: 70 essential headlights of the peninsular Spain. With this book Felix has a long career of almost 40 years of work, most of them dedicated to nautical photography, with a very eclectic approach to the subject, ports, merchant ships, fishing, sailing and cruise, cliffs, beaches, waves and, above all, headlights...
It is precisely from headlights of what this new book is about, which has two different characteristics with respect to the previous five with the same subject. The first is its geographical scope, which covers the whole of the almost 5,000 kilometres of the Spanish coast, less that of the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, and the second is its ambition, the pursuit of a certain excellence, already manifested in its title, with that adjective of "indispensable."
Félix has made a long journey, an undoubted force tour over the past 7 years, since the appearance in 2017 of Faros de Asturias, visiting and photographing all the headlights of the peninsula, something that no one had done so far and thus leaving a legacy of undoubted artistic and documentary value.
On the other hand, the effort of synthesis and selection used to choose the 70 headlights of more than 150 existing in Spain and, of each of those 70, the most representative photos among the tens of snapshots available to Felix of each of them, in their complete files. The result is fantastic, the most relevant headlights in Spain, due to their architecture, environment or history, are thus available to the headlight fan, or the traveller, as the publication's guide format facilitates their inclusion in the backpack or suitcase, prepared for a holiday on the coast.
In addition to the photos, maps, location and technical characteristics of each lighthouse, the guide offers an inspired prologue, from the pen of the great Valencian writer Gastón Segura, essayist, articulist and novelist, and a brief illustrative text of each of the lighthouse, written by the marine and philologist José Manuel Díaz, a regular collaborator of the photographer.
