Maxicat Victoria arrives in La Gomera in record time of the first stage of the Route

Maxicat Victoria has crossed the line of arrival on the Canary Island of La Gomera at 4, 00 minutes and 4 seconds of the afternoon today, Monday November 11. The difference with the Mapfre, which currently holds the record of the Discovery Route, has been 45 minutes and 52 seconds. The Maxicat Victoria has used 1 day, 18 hours, 34 minutes and 38 seconds to make the first tour of this route and the Mapfre did so in 1 day, 19 hours, 20 minutes and 30 seconds.

After his passage through La Gomera, the crew formed by Alex Pella, Lalou Roucayrol, Alejandro Cantero, Alberto Muñoz, Pablo Santurde, Pilar Casares and Manuel Maqueda will head to the Royal Nautical Club of Gran Canaria, and will tie up to the next meteor window to allow them to start the second stretch of this route, which unites La Gomera and San Salvador in Bahamas. In order to beat the record, you will have to make both tours in less than 11 days, 7 hours and 40 seconds.

After five days of competition he finished in the waters of Sferracavallo, Palermo, the Nacra 17 European Championship, in which the Dutch Offerman and Houtman were proclaimed champions of Europe and the Belgians Kwinten and Borghijs champions of Junior Europe. The brothers Daniel and Nora García of the House (Sub19, Nacra European Champions 15 2023 and Nacra Youth World Champions 17 in 2023) were the only Spanish representatives closing the championship with a ninth place in the European General, sixth in Junior.

The European was closed with a new format in which the first two teams, from the Netherlands and Italy, faced in two final matches in which Offerman and Houtman imposed themselves to leave the Italians Ugolini and Giubilei with silver. In the category Júnior, Kwinten and Borghijs secured their second great title in 2024, after having previously won the Junior World Championship. They were first followed by their compatriots Claeyssens and Verstraelen, second, and the Australians Liddell and Brown, third.
