The birth of the Abanca Week, a multinational reference event at the national level in October 2000, was the next celebration of the third centenary of the Battle of Rande. With the Nautical Trip, its founding principles have been fulfilled, commemorating that struggle in its waters between more than twenty thousand fighters (9,663 British and 3,924 Dutch on board 138 ships... of which about five hundred died).
The Evangeline made this weekend of the 1702 Torbay with British Admiral George Rooke in command, but with no sense of war... but with a crew of regatists and sailors with the great Xoan Silva of captain transmitting a message of peace of fraternity to our dear and old Europe.

After the conclusion of the Rías Baixas and Galicia Interior versions, where there have been competitions of base sailing, Olympic sailing, cruise sailing, pyragüismo, nautical skiing, wakeboard and wakesurf; the Abanca Week is heading for La Coruña to complete the Rías Altas version, which will take place in the herculin capital of the hand of the Royal Nautical Club of La Coruña.
