The contest will be failed by a jury composed of the director of the Alvargonzález Foundation, as president, a member of his patron, and the director and a professor of the Civil Navy School of the University of Oviedo. In the event of a tie, the President of the jury may make use of a quality vote. The amount allocated shall be the following:
form: 2,000 euros at the beginning of work; 1,000 euros after approval by the sponsoring Foundation of its six-year advance; and the remaining 1,000 euros at completion
of the same

The Alvarzonález Foundation and the University of Oviedo call for a scholarship for graduates of the Civil Navy... the amount of the research grant is €4,000 and it is available to graduates of Spanish nationality who are graduates of any Faculty or College of the Civil Navy of our country.

The College of the University of Oviedo, with the sponsorship of the Alvarzonález Foundation, calls for the vigésimosta edition of the Claudio Alvarzonález Sánchez Scholarship of research with
intended for a work of free choice on some subject of the specialties "Nautics and Maritime Transport" or "Marina" (Naval Machines).

This grant may be granted to civil Marina graduates or graduates of any faculty or higher school in Spain who are in possession of Spanish nationality. The research work must be carried out within a maximum of one year from the date of notification of the competition decision, scheduled for early December 2024.

The Alvarzonález Foundation is intended to pay tribute with this scholarship to the brigadier of the Royal Spanish Navy Claudio Alvarzonález Sánchez (1816-1896), known
as the 'Hero de Abtao', who was also mayor of Gijón. "Tasty and fosco, with a bearded and flashing look, the first sea wolf in Spain," Pérez Galdós defined the illustrious gijonese marine in his National Episodes.

The last day of receipt of applications is October 31, 2024 either at the College of the Civil Navy of the University of Oviedo (Campus Universitario, Gijón), or at the offices of the Alvarzonález Foundation (C / Claudio Alvarzonález 16-1, Gijón).
