The Spanish and Portuguese Championship of ILCAC-Trofeo Xunta of Galicia organized by the Club Marítimo de Canido; it was overturned at the edge of the three o'clock, by the top leaders of the jury of the event designated by the Royal Spanish Federation of Vela: the Ferroman Pablo Alarcon as president of the jury and the Tomyñense José Manuel Miranda, chief officer of the race. The double motif: the fog was then still persistent, to the extent that the island of Toralla was not visible by this circumstance; as well as the lack of wind qualified by these laros as a chicha calm in the marinero argot.

The clock was already in place when it was impossible to start a sleeve, because the regulatory time had been exhausted to that effect, and the jury was on the signal mast of the Maritimo de Canido the feared flag of intelligence (mattresses like that of the Atletico of Madrid) on the flag A of the International Code of Signals.

From here on with the flag resignation the 100 lasers, with all the technical staff of the different clubs entered in the zafarancho of combat, because to be put to work, to carry the 100 laser in their large vans, with the corresponding trailers and to collect all the material, to set out to their cities of departure in the communities of all Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Euskadi and Portugal with the deep disappointment of seeing their desire for competition fueled by the weather conditions.

The next event of the Abanca Week, will be a competition of the Galicia Interior Version, which has grasped the curiosity of the fans: the Spanish Championship-Trophy Recession of Ourense, of two last generation nautical specialties, with much youth in its veins: wakeboard and the wakesurf; which have a great pronunciation on the American continent, both in the United States, and in Mexico and in countries of the south of the new continent: case of Brazil and Argentina.

The national of both categories, will be held in the coming days 28 and 29 in the Ensenada de Barra de Miño (municipality of Coles in the province of Ourense), by the hand of the Club Dumies of the capital of the Burgas, the Club Marítimo de Vigo and the federations of Galicia and Spain of Náutico Ski. Great environment surrounding this unique event in which there are already 60 registered Riders from almost the whole country, case of clubs of the communities of Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Euskadi, Castilla y León, Castilla La Mancha, Madrid, Catalonia and Valencia among other communities. The event will be presented in the next few days at the Provincial Palace of the Office of the Ourense.

After the competition in the Miño, Abanca Week will have two events in the Rías Baixas. The Trip of the Battle of Rande with the support of numerous clubs and nautical associations of the Ria de Vigo, and the one that will mean the entry of Sanxenxo in the reference event of the Spanish multinautics: will be with the International Vila Trophy of Portonovo of Kayak de Mar in which two thousands of palists will participate.

2024-09-21: Week Abanda-Xunta of Galicia: fog + lack of wind in sail = annulment

First a thick fog and then the lack of wind hit the slope with the opening day (Photo Moebius)

It did not come as expected, in the luxury quote that from the hand of the Maritime Club of Canido opened the competitions of light and Olympic sail of the week Abanca 2024: the wind... and only the fog remained. Without each other and with the other, which is one of the greatest obstacles to be found by nautical athletes, the disaster is served. And that was what happened in the Ria de Vigo on Saturday day, which caused the first day of the Spanish and Portuguese Championship of ILCA 4, 6 and 7 to go blank.

In addition, the club that Juan Pablo Cividanes presided over had organized everything as it usually does: with a phenomenal organization on the ground and with very first-line professionals in which they were at sea. In addition, the athletes fulfilled everything expected of them... that could not be anything else that would stoically withstand first the fog and then the lack of wind... and despite how hard they were waiting for several hours on foot from the race field of the Cí Islands, they left with an unusual speed and without any hindrance to the sea, to try to fix the day when the six and a quarter of the afternoon... when the judges were on the signal mast of the Canido Maritime flag of the letter D (Delta) of the International Code of Signals.

The teams of lasers from all over Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Euskadi and Portugal were launched in search of the exit line installed in front of the spectacular island of Toralla in front of the beaches of the western Vigués... the excellent Pontevedrés judge, the Tomyñense, José Manuel Miranda and his team of assistants did the impossible to inaugurate in Canido the test counter... but all the effort was valid.

For the second day that will be the one that will close this Iberian of ILCA, with the Sailway Trophy of ILCA4 and the Olympic classes ILCA6 and ILCA7, which will compete in the Xunta Trophy of Galicia; the difficulty is that the participants will have to complete two sleeves so that the Iberian of ILCA will be valid; in a Sunday day that will begin in the regatta of the 11: 00 morning. We must not have a failure, and pray to the famous Eolo, as is always said in these situations in the nautical argot by these beautiful Lars of the Rías Baixas of Galicia... if everything goes well, the closure will be at 5: 00 in the afternoon at the Canido Maritime Club.
