Presidents of Piragüismo federations denounce the abuse of power of the President of the Spanish Federation and demand urgent intervention from the Council

The presidents of the Asturian federations, balar, galician, madriwood and pyragüism Navarre have urgently requested the intervention of the Higher Council of Sports, in the face of what they call a serious abuse of power by Javier Hernanz, president of the Royal Spanish Federation of Pyragüismo.

In a letter addressed to the President of the Council, the representatives of these federations report that Hernanz has suspended the electoral process without the consent and knowledge of the delegated committee, in an act that they consider authoritarian and contrary to the principles of transparency and democracy that the federation must govern. The signatories accuse Hernanz of acting for his own benefit, using his post to delay the electoral process and to promote his chances of re-election.

The President of the Spanish Republic has been protected by a court ruling that overrides only a minor section of the electoral rules, without affecting the rest of the rules. Despite this, Hernanz has unilaterally decided to stop the whole process, which the autonomous presidents consider a deliberate manoeuvre to perpetuate in office. Such arbitrary decisions, according to the signatories, show absolute contempt for the regulations and democratic participation of the actors involved in the electoral process.

In their writing, the presidents denounce Hernanz's despotic action, who acts as if the Spanish Federation was his personal property, ignoring the responsibilities and duties of his office. They also stress that the electoral rules were approved by the Commission and ratified by the High Council for Sports, and require that it be complied with in its entirety, without arbitrary changes in the interests of Hernanz.
