New triumph for the April Oil in the Count of Gondomar Trophy of Mount Real Yates Club. The crew of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, led by Luis and Jorge Pérez Canal, added their eighth victory in the competition on Sunday.

He also did so forcefully, defeating the Carrumeiro Chico test, signing a second position in the turn to Ons and with another first place in the last test in liza, a cane of the barlovento-sotavento type contested in the Fondadero de Cíes.

And the Pérez Canal have very well taken the measures to the competition. Of the 49 years that the Count of Gondomar fulfilled in 2024, the Orensians have been 30 participating in this classic, and most of them, with the same crew base.

Of their eight victories, four are consecutive: in 2021, even with their previous ship, a First 44.7; in 2022, when they fired that Devil Network; in 2023, already with Swan 45, exceeding the record of 6 victories of the Pairo of José Luis Freire; and in this 2024.

The April Oil was the absolute winner of the Count of Gondomar Trophy (which included 3 tests: the rise to the Carrumeiro, the turn to Ons and a barlovento-sotavento cane) and the winner of the ORC Class in which it competed. In this category, the Figaro 55 de Jesús Pintos, the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, and the Racer de Januario Cruz, of the Portuguese club We Do Sailing were made with silver and bronze. The Magical of Julio Rodríguez, from the nautical Viguese, who achieved a third and a second place in the turn to Ons and the Sunday stick, could not finally be hung on the podium of honor because he had not scored the proof of the Carrumeiro... was fourth.
