Union Switzerland, the emblematic brand of high-end jewelry and watch, sponsors the Varador Sailing Team in the prestigious Cup of the Sailing King, which will be held from July 27 to August 3 in Palma de Mallorca. This is the brand's first incursion in the field of sports events and high competition, reflecting its commitment to excellence, innovation and competitive spirit. The agreement highlights the precision and quality values that define the company.
The team consists of fourteen first-level crew members from Catalonia, the Canary Islands, Galicia and Andalusia, all with experience in the professional race circuit. The ship's shipowner is Elisabeta Quartaroli, the project is led by the well-known Catalan businessman of the Xiqui Mas nautical sector and led by the former Olympic Luis Martínez Doreeste and the regatist Ricardo Terrades.
At the helm's command will be the young canary Jorge Martínez Doreste, while navigation and electronics will be the responsibility of the gold medalist in Los Angeles 1984, Roberto Molina. The trimmer of spi will also be the canary and Olympic in 470, Tunte Cantero, while the Galician Pancho González will be in charge of tribating the foque and Ricardo Terrades the major. The boat is a prototype Botín & Carkeek 46 which has been made an integral reference in the Varador 2000 facilities in Arenys de Mar, Barcelona. This ship has already demonstrated its competitiveness by participating in the Count of Godó Trophy, where it won the fifth place, and in the Regatta of La Reina in Valencia, where it finished fourth and won the penultimate test with authority. After further modifications and optimisations, the team continues to improve the boat to reach the King's Cup in the best possible conditions.
Ricardo Terrades, the team's project manager, has expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the King's Cup, stressing that reaching this race is already a great achievement after months of work. He appreciated the support of the Swiss Union and stressed that, while winning was a challenge, the team was motivated to compete with illusion and to give its best.
