The best 70 Riders in the world, representing 5 continents and more than 20 countries, compete from 9 to 13 July in the Salinas de Tenefé to become world champions of high-jump discipline

The party starts flying all the way up in the Salinas de Tenefé, in the municipal term of Saint Lucia of Tirajana, where the Kitesurf World Championships and Wingfire in the discipline of Big Air have been presented in the morning... the best 70 Riders of both disciplines represent 5 continents and more than 20 countries that compete from 9 to 13 July for world titles on the island of Gran Canaria.

An event that has been planned over the past two years, according to Joergen Vogt, president of the world organizations GKA and GWA, global associations of Kitesports and Wingsports, said.

The presentation also included the participation of Francisco José García, mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, accompanied by Julio Ojeda, Councillor of Sports, and Veronica Suárez, Councillor of Tourism, among other representatives of the municipal corporation. In addition, all the Riders who will compete for the title of Kitesurf Big Air as Wingfire Big Air attended the inaugural event.

The good conditions in the Salinas de Tenefé made it possible to dispute the first elimination rounds of the wingfire discipline, highlighting the American rider Christopher Macdonald with the highest score of the day, adding his best two jumps about 17 points. In the first and only edition of the Wingfire World Cup held in Pozo Izquierdo last year, French champions Julien Rattotti and the Andalusian Sea of Arce were proclaimed.

The Qatar Airways GKA Big Air Kite World Championships Gran Canaria 2024 and the GWA Big Air Wingfire World Championship Gran Canaria 2024, sponsored by the Tourism and Sport areas of the Gran Canaria Cabildo with the collaboration of the City Council of Saint Lucia of Tirajana and the Government of the Canary Islands, will proclaim the world champions of kitesurf and wingofil in the discipline of Big Air.
