The second day of the Longboard Oleaje Festival that hosts the Spanish Championship of Longboard 2024, began on Saturday with a change of location due to the lack of conditions of waves on the beach of El Puertillo, where it had been held on the first day, so the event was moved to the beach of San Andrés, in the same municipality of Arucas, Gran Canaria.
With very good waves in El Puertillo, they started the first finals of the championship, crowning the new Spanish Longboard champions in different categories. The first title of the day was taken by the grancanary Juan Francisco Cabrera (better known as Kiko) in the absolute male category, followed by Antonio Rodríguez and Marcos Sánchez, respectively.
The good conditions allowed the end of the Grand Master class (over 40 years of age), in which the grancanary Tony Araya rose with the triumph, obtaining Jacobo Santana the second place and Eduardo García the third square. Then came the turn of the female Master category, in which the Riders gave a true recital of good surfing. The title was for the Tierfeña Lorena Mazzola, ending the Galician María Lapuente in second position and the Canary Islands Luzma Sosa in third.
The Kahuna final, of competitors over 45 years old, then entered the water. The first square went back to the hands of Kiko Cabrera, thus obtaining both titles of Spanish champion of Longboard, in the categories Master and Kahuna. The second position was for Tony Araya, while the third position was this time Carlos Alberto Ramos. José Hernández and Jacobo Santana had the fourth and fifth place respectively.
After these four finals, a fun and entertaining Tag Team (team championship) took place that would later give way to the last two sleeves of the day: the finals in the female and male Sub18 category.
The very young Spanish surfer of Italian origin, Ginger Caimi, signed an excellent performance in the female final, obtaining the highest score of the championship so far: 8.67 and 6.67, crowned as well as the new Spanish champion of the Women's Longboard Sub18. The second position was for another canarian, Mia Ramakers, while the third place for the Andalusian rider Lara Sastre.
In the male Sub18 category, the Andalusian Alfonso Zamora was proclaimed champion in a few minutes of heart attack. The second position was for the Asturian Martín García. The Basque competitor Oier Azpeitia got the third square, while the fourth position was for the Canary Matías Plumed.
