Joaquín González Devesa, Chimo, a professional doctor until just a year ago, takes over the command of the Royal Spanish Vela Federation with a continuous vision of the work that has been done over the last four years.
For Gonzalez Devesa, the reason for the Federation is the sportsman: Federation, technicians, judges, class secretariats, clubs, we all work for the sportsman, so that he can develop from the children's candle to where his abilities take him. To this end, we must form the necessary structure, economic, administrative, material, etc. Not only do you have to have a boat, material and talent, you have to have a multidisciplinary team to push you.
On the current situation of the RFEV as the basis for meeting this new challenge, the president states: I receive a highly economically sound federation, with a very strong economic, administrative, sports and communication structure, thanks to the work of the outgoing Board of Directors, led by Javier Sanz.

Born in Denia in 1959, the life of Joaquín González Devesa is linked to the sea, from its early childhood in the light sail to its passage to the cruise. He gave his first bords in the waters of the country, going through numerous kinds of light sailing such as the Optimist, 420, Snipe and 470, until he entered the world of the cruise from the age of 19.
It was followed to the races of the area of Valencia until, upon entering the Navy, it moved its residence to Palma de Mallorca. It has since been a fundamental part of the ships of the Naval Commission of Regtatas, sailing with the Aifos, Sirius or Hispania, in national and international top-level races.
It was part of the first Spanish challenge of the America's Cup, Spain 92, participating in the technical project of design of the ship and in the project of data collection for the sports development.

Your lines of work
Basic candle, training, R & D, work with clubs and autonomics, cruise service, female candle and adapted candle are the points of attention marked for the legislature.
As for the basic sailing, it is essential for the new president to continue to develop the work with the nautical clubs. The children & apos; s classes are nurtured and will then feed strategic classes at the territorial level. "We must establish standard sports plans between the autonomous, the clubs and the national ones to work on the same line."
As for the development of the strategic classes that nurture the Olympic classes, we must continue to facilitate the transition of athletes who sail in strategic classes to Olympic classes, in the last 8 years we have gone from 18 ships to more than 80 today. "
This development goes through a parallel training of technicians and specialists in strategic classes and in Olympic classes, "especially in new classes such as the Kite and the iQFOil, where specialized technicians in the different territorial federations will enable them to be enhanced."
Data analysis is important in setting the means to achieve the objectives: "Today it is essential to continue investing in R & D & I, which is not measured, cannot be evaluated and therefore improved. We have made a great effort and investment in this technology that, with artificial intelligence tools, allows us to improve the performance of our Olympic athletes. In this new legislature we want to implement this technology in the FFAA teams."
In relation to the cruise, "excellence in meters, management of ratings, judges and race officers is the objective in the section of the cruise to offer the best service to the cruiser." The format we have given to the Spanish Cruise Championship has been a success and is a good tool for growing competition in the sector. "
In its programme, the women's candle could not be missed, a sector that since the Spanish one wants to continue to promote: "Continue working for parity in the national teams and with the Iberdrola League, which is being a promotion success. The outstanding subject is to increase the number of female technicians and judges in this sport, and we will work on that line."
The adapted candle also takes the lead: "The acquisition of six boats is accompanied by clinics in various territories to improve the level and number of athletes, supporting participation in national and international races with a coach."
