Arucas presents the National Longboard Championship

Half a hundred surfers from all over Spain will compete on the coast from today until Sunday, at one of the most important festivals at the national level of the Sports Club of Surfing Oleaje, the Spanish Federation of Surfing and the Canary Federation of Surf
The coast of the municipality of Arucas hosts the Spanish Championship of Longboard, a surfing modality that will bring to the beach of San Andrés or the Puertillo, according to conditions, the most important competition at the national level of this surfing mode. This competition, which will have a festival format, is already gathering in the north of Gran Canaria around a hundred of the best surfers, of which the Spanish champions will be proclaimed.
The Spanish Championship will start in Grancan waters with the participation of surfers from several Spanish islands and autonomous communities, as well as some European countries such as Italy or Belgium. Among the most prominent surfers, of the size of the asturian Nicolás García, who has already proclaimed himself the European champion, won titles like the World Surf League's Longboard European Championship in Newquay in 2022. Some of the members of the team made up of local athletes are the grancanary Joel Rodríguez (Las Palmas), of the Club de Surfing Oleaje, who was already the champion of the Canary Islands in 2019 and the subchampion of Spain in 2017 and 2018, among other achievements. In the female category, it might surprise the pontevedresa Maria Lapuente, who has already carried the Spanish champion crown of Longboard.
