In the absence of a single Grand Prix to be held, the Spanish team is third in the championship classification, with five points different from France

The presence of Spain in the SailGP final will be decided at the last Grand Prix of this season 4, in San Francisco. After its seventh place this weekend in New York, the Spain SailGP Team will reach the city of northern California in the third place of the general, with five points of difference over its immediate pursuit, the France of Quentin Delapierre... the victory was for the New Zealand of Peter Burling, which demonstrated why it is the team that leads the classification of the competition.

After the seventh place in Spain in New York, the team piloted by Diego Botin occupies the third place in the general ranking of SailGP, with 76 points. Fourth is France, with five less (71). Then Canada and Rockwool Denmark appear with 67, so they would almost be ruled out for the Grand Final of San Francisco. New Zealand leads the championship with 93 points and second is Australia with 78. The last SailGP Grand Prix, as well as the Grand Final of the competition, will be held in three weeks, on 13 and 14 July, in San Francisco.

2024-06-23: Sail GP New York... on a day with little wind Spain meets

The Spanish team of SailGP meets on a first day of races starring the low intensity of the wind

The first day of the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix ended earlier than expected because of the low wind intensity. Although the F50 had taken the exit of the third race of the day, the race committee decided to suspend it shortly after it began because the wind conditions were considered too light to guarantee a fair race. In the two previous sleeves, the teams offered amateurs an interesting dispute in which the key factor was the ability of each of the F50 and its technical teams to decipher the field and take advantage of the areas of higher wind intensity.

The Spain SailGP Team, which was seventh and fourth respectively in the first two races, finished the day in seventh position, with 11 points. Three more points have New Zealand and Emirates GBR, tied to points in third place, which gives access to the Grand Prize final. Spain will therefore fight again on Sunday to climb to that third square. In the two races this Saturday, the Spanish team of SailGP left in the back of the fleet, which, in addition to weather conditions, made the team piloted by Diego Botin very difficult to climb to the first positions. Tomorrow, from 7.30 p.m.

2024-06-21: Sail GP New York: the penultimate escort before San Francisco

The Spain SailGP Team will defend in the iconic American city its second position in the championship... a good result in the Grand Prix could mathematically certify the presence of the F50 Victoria in the race decided by the winner of this season 4 of SailGP

After climbing to the second place in the general ranking in the past Rockwool Canada Sail Grand Prix, the Spanish team of SailGP now arrives in New York in order to mathematically secure its place at the end of San Francisco, which decides the winner of this season 4 of Formula 1 of the sea.

A good result of the Spain SailGP Team this weekend would certify the team's presence in that last championship test, although in SailGP anything can happen. In this penultimate Grand Prix of the season, Spain will have to demonstrate the same consistency that it has exhibited throughout the course. Disputing the end of this Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix would be an almost definitive step forward.

At the gates of San Francisco, Diego Botin's are second in the general ranking (72 points), which heads Peter Burling's New Zealand (83 points). Below, just one point, is Tom Slingsby's Australia (71 points). France (65), Rockwool Denmark (64) and Emirates GBR (58), which played the last Halifax final, will try to keep cutting points to F50 Victoria.
