The world windsurfing elite meets on the Grancan beach of Pozo Izquierdo
The Grancan beach of Pozo Izquierdo again becomes the epicenter of windsurfing, where the best racers of this sports modality are tested again from June 29 to July 7 during the 36th edition of the Gran Canaria Gloria Windsurf World Cup. One of the most demanding tests of the international circuit of the Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA), which will have this year with the participation of more than 150 windsurfers among all disciplines and the first PWA World Cup Slalom X.
This Windsurf World Cup, known for its epic leaping battles, strong wind waves, Slalom, a race circuit delimited by beacons, will present this year with a novelty, the Slalom X, a new racing format where windsurfers will combine the most extreme aspects of the slalom, with jumps, full fleet exits, slalom surfing, speed racing and much more, to define the fastest and most complete rider.
Gran Canaria has been chosen as the first destination to witness this new evolution of this sport. With some of the most reliable conditions on the planet, with strong regular winds, there is no better place to launch this exciting adventure towards a new dimension of windsurfing.
Mahón, announces that it has 50 cruises for the Regata Sant Joan- Trofeo Alfonso XIII, which begins after tomorrow
The twenty-fifth edition of the Regata Menorca Sant Joan, Trofeo Alfonso XIII was presented on Tuesday at the Club Marítimo de Mahón, organizer of the event next to the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona. The test, which is sponsored by the Menorca Tourism Development Foundation and the collaboration of the Mahón City Council, will be held from Thursday with departure from the City Condal at 12 hours to the island and will finally have 50 registered vessels that will seek victory in the 140 nautical miles that bind the two ports.
The arrival of the first classified is scheduled for the morning of Thursday to Friday although it will depend on the weather conditions in a historic race whose winner will take a replica of the silver trophy designed by the Jeweler Puig Doria. The programme of activities will be complemented on Saturday with the Regata del Puerto de Mahón, starting at 12 noon in front of the Naval Base in a unique show in Europe.
Guillermo Beltri, proclaims Spanish champion of IOM in Vitoria waters
The Náutico de Vitoria club welcomed the Spanish Royal Vela Federation and the Basque Vela Federation with the support of the Alavesa Vela Federation the Spanish IOM Championship on 7.8 and 9 June 2024. 33 patterns of different Autonomous Communities participated in this test.
The stage was located in the waters of the Ullibarri Gamboa reservoir, in the facilities of the Nautical Club of Vitoria. The test began on Friday, June 7th, on the set schedule. The results control was carried out with the HMS classification system, two fleets with ascending and descending six patterns according to position of arrival. With a north-east wind of 12 to 16 knots maintained in direction and strength throughout the day. 12 tests were conducted, six in each fleet.
On Saturday, the wind of the same strength and Northwest component was opened, and seven other tests per fleet, very competitive and resulting in very different strategies with different results. On Sunday and last day the wind rolled North very regularly with less intensity and five other tests were performed per fleet, ending the Championship with 18 tests per fleet.
