The Royal Nautical Club of Valencia from 1903 to the late 1980s, had exceptional facilities at the mouth of the Turia... but the Club had to go to a great marina, as a product of which it became one of the references of the nautical at the planetary level

Since 1900 in Spain there was a Federation of Nautical Clubs of the Cantábrico, which formed the Real Regatas Club of Santander, the Real Nautical Club of San Sebastián and the Real Sporting Club.

In 1906 they joined these three other clubs: the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante, the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona, the Real Club Marítimo del Abra and the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena, and they created the Spanish Federation of Nautical Clubs, which for all purposes became the national authority.

Its first president, Victoriano Ópez-Doliga, attended the year after the foundation in Paris of the International Yacht Racing Union (the legendary IYRU), the current International Sailing Federation. The Spanish Federation of Nautical Clubs became the Spanish Federation of Vela in 1966, and on April 8, 1987 the Spanish Federation of Vela.
