Trasmed is committed to connecting its ships to the port's electrical network after the installation of the PAHO in Barcelona scheduled for end 2024

Grimaldi Lines and Transmed GLE are present, one more year, at the International Logistics, Transport, Intralogistic and Supply Chain Reference Fair, SIL Barcelona 2024, which is held these days at the Montjuic Fair.

The Grimaldi Group is consolidated as the world's largest Ro-Ro shipping company and continues to expand its global presence and strengthen its transport network. In 2024, the shipping group has extended its routes from Spain to the Baltic with the incorporation of the port of Vigo, complementing the existing routes already with the port of Bilbao and doubling the frequencies. This consolidates its Iberian network with strategic connections from the Atlantic coast to the North Sea and the Baltic Sea through its subsidiary Finnlines.

In addition, Grimaldi strengthens its presence in Greece through its subsidiary Minoan Lines, acquiring a majority participation in the Greek ports of Igoumenitsa and Heraklion in Crete. This movement increases its activity and strengthens the role of Greece and Crete as key transit centres in the region.

In terms of turnover, 2023 has been a record year for the Grimaldi Group, generating about 5 billion euros. This success is the result of the significant investments made in 2022 and 2023, with a clear focus on the sustainability and expansion of its routes and ports in Europe.

Acquisition Terminal Barcelona

As for Spain, it should be recalled that in May 2023, the Grimaldi Group consolidated its presence in the port of Barcelona with the acquisition of the Ferry Barcelona Terminal, which is fused with the adjacent terminal, Grimaldi Terminal Barcelona. This new terminal, now unified, is primarily aimed at improving both economic and environmental efficiency. With a number of strategic investments, the Grimaldi Group seeks to establish a standard of excellence in port operations, aligned with its commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement. The main works planned include the remanagement and automation of the access and exit lanes, the improvement of the firm at the Poniente Pier and the updating of the lighting system. In addition, the project proposes the construction of a vertical parking lot with capacity for 2,500 cars and the installation of a photovoltaic plant with 1,776 solar plates with a power of 888 Kwp, which will cover the energy needs of the terminal throughout the year. It also provides for the extension of the San Beltrán gateway to Poniente Norte and the implementation of a new finger, thus optimizing the operation and connectivity of the terminal.
