The Global Solo Challenge has now officialized that the Real Nautical Club of Vigo will be the port of departure and arrival of the second edition of the event, to be held in 2027-2028. The olive city takes over from La Coruña, which in the inaugural edition of 2023-2024 of the hand Marina Coruña, served as host.

The event presents a unique format in which ships of different levels of performance sail on step outputs, creating an extremely exciting pursuit dynamic. In this round of the world, participants have to travel 25,000 nautical miles through the three great ends: Cape of Good Hope, Cape Leeuwin and Cape Horn, before returning to Vigo.

Departing from Vigo will be geographically more favorable to priori, and will help ensure equity in the steps. The location of Vigo, south of Cape Finisterre and far from the Gulf of Vizcaya, is not as affected by autumn storms as the northern coast of the Iberian peninsula, which minimizes the risk of delays due to bad weather. The protected waters of the Bay of Vigo will also allow the ships of the spectators to accompany the patterns to the exit in the Cis Islands, the entrance door to the Atlantic, and on their return from the circumnavigation.
