After missing the first race of 2024, the Phoenix of Hasso and Tina Plattner will be back in action at the second event of the season: the Newport Trophy, which will be the historic debut of the 52 Super Series in Rhode Island. Phoenix is one of the most powerful teams of the 52 Super Series. After a discreet start in 2023, the South African team recovered the champion of America's Cup Ed Baird as a tactical at the Rolex TP52 World Championship in Barcelona, where they finished quarters, and fired an irregular season imposing themselves at the last event of the year, in Puerto Portals, to remember their natural position in the circuit's head group.

After leaving at the premiere of the meeting held in Palma... Phoenix will rejoin the fleet in Newport reinforced by the return on board its shipowners: the father-daughter duo formed by Hasso and Tina Plattner, the real driving force of the team.

With three titles in the 52 Super Series and three victories in the Rolex TP52 World Championship as a pattern, timonel or strategy of Quantum Racing, Ed Baird is one of the most experienced and successful regatists of the circuit. The American, who has been with the Plattner family team since his first steps in the TP52 campaigns, is excited to compete in this new headquarters.
