The ship City of Sóller de Trasmed has started operating since last Tuesday with Spanish flag and crew, performing the routes Barcelona - Palma and Valencia - Palma. The City of Sóller has been flagged in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and will be under the command of Captain Gabriel Masip Clará.

It should be recalled that the City of Sóller was operating with Trasmed since March 25, although for bureaucratic issues related to the administrative deadlines of Italian legislation, it was flying Italian flag and crew during the first two months of service. This period has made it possible to meet the requirements of the law for the change of flag to Spanish and the incorporation of the Trasmed crew.

Built in the shipyards of Cadiz, the old Igoumenitsa, now the City of Sóller, is a 188-meter-long and 29-meter-long ship with capacity for 900 passengers and 3,300 linear metres of rolling load. This incorporation, already with Spanish flag and crew, means one step further in the efforts of the shipping company to offer efficient and sustainable maritime transport solutions in the Spanish Mediterranean.

The name has been selected as a tribute to the coastal town of Mallorca, which has historically played a crucial role as a point of maritime connection between Mallorca, Valencia, Barcelona and southern France. This choice reflects Trasmed's commitment to local communities and thus recognizes the rich maritime history of this maritime enclave on the island of Mallorca.
