The Bouzas- Rande Multinational Trip enters the Abanca Week

The Week celebrates its 25th anniversary as a national reference for the multinational race, in which over 50,000 sailing, rowing, pyragüism and nautical skiing athletes have participated in their competitions held in the four Galician provinces, as well as in Asturias and in North Portugal (Photo Pedro Seoane)
The vicedecano of the nautical of Galicia, the Maritime Liceo of Bouzas, was the club chosen by the Organizing Committee of the Abanca Week to hold the first meeting of this season... in which it was officially held within its competitions and sports activities, a Multinational Trip between Bouzas and Rande, which on the one hand will be a tribute to the memory of the Battle of Rande and on the other the central event of which will be the twenty-fifth anniversary of this competition which is a whole reference within the races that gather different competitions of nautical sports.
The British and Dutch fleets entered the Ria de Vigo in the south mouth in order to attack the Silver Fleet, which was in the inner area of the Viguese Ria protected by units of the Spanish and French armed forces... in order to destroy the barrier of chains and wood they had installed; in the area where today the Rade bridge is found as a major obstacle. And that tour in its last miles: between Bouzas and Rande, it will be the one that covers more than a hundred ships, on October 5... with the aim of making this multinational journey a historical tradition of nautical in the Rías Baixas of Galicia.
In this viscous project, a large part of cultural associations, nautical clubs and rowing clubs are immersed in the whole Vigo era: from the Maritime of Canido, the Maritime Licensing of Bouzas and the Maritime of Vigo, to the clubs of Cangas, Moaña, Vilaboa and the Redondela itself... as well as cultural cut-off associations and the Virazo de Navigantes de Galicia, the Hermerica Association, those of traditional boats of Bouzas, Cangas, Moaña and Redondela. In any case, it is intended to comply with the original project of the Abanca Week when it was born in October 2000 with the support of the Xunta de Galicia, by writing from the government then chaired by Manuel Fraga.
It should be noted that the Week in its 25 years of existence has won two significant awards, such as that of the Xunta de Galicia, which on the occasion of the bipartite of nationalists and socialists named it "Strategic Event of the Galician nautical" or that of 2015 in Barcelona, where it was distinguished as "Best Multinational Event of Spain." Over 50,000 sailing, rowing, pyragüism and ski athletes have participated in their competitions in these years; from 30 countries, they have competed in the four Galician provinces, as well as Asturias and northern Portugal. This year the Abanca Week will be held between September and December and the versions will again be Rías Altas based in La Coruña, Galicia Interior based in Ourense and Rías Baixas with headquarters in Vigo and Marín. The three thousand athletes are expected to be over.
