Generalised improvement for Spanish in Hyères
Five national crews were placed in the Top10 of their respective disciplines, with important stretches for Nacho Baltasar, Diego Botín and Florian Trittel, and Bernat Cortés...
Today's day in French Olympic Week was again marked by a complicated meteorology, which the Spaniards managed well to lead to a widespread improvement. Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman are rooms of 470 Junta; Nacho Baltasar went up to the sixth square of iQFOiL Male; Diego Botín and Florian Trittel were also placed six, in 49er; Gisela Polido remains seventh of Formula Kite Female, and Bernat Cortés climbed to the ninth square of Formula Kite Male.
Today the wind came more or less punctual to his appointment in the waters of Hyères, but the arrival of a few chubbasks in the first hour of the afternoon caused an accused role (change of direction) that forced him to interrupt the day. All disciplines competed, although in many cases not all scheduled tests could be completed.
Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman, current world champions, added a satisfactory second day of testing in Hyères waters. The Catalan duo of 470 Junta signed a second and a sixth and maintains the fourth place of the provisional general, tied to points with the third, the British M. Wrigley and B. Harris. The French C. Lecointre and J. Mion are still in the lead, followed by the Australians N. Jerwood and C. Nicholas. Neus Ballester and Alejandro de Maqua, for their part, march the twenty-fifth.
In iQFOiL Male, Nacho Baltasar was one of the best of the day. His locker added some 5-3-2 partials that made him climb six points in the table, to place sixth of a ranking headed by Australian G. Morris. He also shot Bernat Tomas marches the tenth quarter, while the Alicantine Jorge Aranzueque remained the tenth.
In 49er, Diego Botín and Florian Trittel added a tenth and a quarter in the two partials of the day, which were held in the field of races far from the ground, with winds up to 19 knots and a rather complicated wave. The fleet started a third manga, but it had to be cancelled in the last stretch by a 180º role, when the Spanish tandem was in third position. With these two partials, the advocates of the title of the French Olympic Week climbed four steps on the table, to the sixth position, to eight points of the podium. The new leaders are the Dutch B. Lambriex and F. Van de Werken. Conrad Konitzer and Antonio Torrado occupy the tenth square, and on the twenty-sixth march the brothers Martin and Jaime Wizner.
In Formula Kite Feminino, the world-wide freestyle pluricampeone Gisela Pulido today signed a partial of 11-13-5-6, with winds of between 10 and 14 knots. After yesterday's blank day for this discipline, the young Catalan woman managed to maintain the seventh place of the provisional general, in the absence of a day to close the Top10 that will play the Thursday Medal Series. The French L. Nolot did not have a round day and fell to the third place, giving the lead to the British E. Aldridge. In the second drawer of the provisional podium is the French J. Kampman.
In Formula Kite Male, Catalan Bernat Cortés began the day very solid, with a second and a third in the first two partials. In the next manga, he also starred in a brilliant start and completed the first stretch between the first five and fighting for the third place, but a problem in the beacon's passage caused him to lose many positions; he managed to recover something during the rest of the tour, but had to be conformed to a 22 in the finish line. Even so, the balance of the day was very positive because it managed to place ninth and enter the Top10, which is the target for the Medal Series. The Valencian Alex Client is also close to the target, classified in the tenth position after adding today 21-18-13. The British C. Bainbridge is still in front of the table, in the absence of tomorrow's tests to decide the Top10 that will fight on Thursday's Medal Series for the last squares for Paris 2024.
Berni Cortés was satisfied with the day: "Today we finally had my conditions, winds of 15 knots with tips of 19, which is a great change from the windows of previous days. I felt very comfortable and always sailed among the first. It was a pity the problem I had at the third manga barlovent beacon. In addition, we started a fourth manga and it was also in the group's head, but the test had to be cancelled because a cocksucker came in and the wind rolled 180º. In any case, we are now in Top10 and tomorrow we expect the same conditions today, which I hope to feel as comfortable and fast."
The ILCA 6 fleet was finally able to premiere and played three sleeves. La grancanaria Isabel Hernández was the best Spanish, with a partial of 14-15-45 that placed her in the tenth position of the provisional table. In the first two sleeves Isabel starred in good first ties, reading well a field of races with very oscillating wind in direction and increasing in intensity. The Andalusian Ana Moncada, on the other hand, had an offline disqualification in the first round. In the following it was not well positioned to navigate comfortable during the rest of the tour, adding a 30 and a 41. March classified in position 51 of a table leading the Australian C. Imeneo.
In IQFOil Feminino, the Sevillian Pilar Lamadrid occupies the 20th place of the provisional general, after the sum today of two unsatisfactory partials. Israeli T. Steinberg is the new leader.
The ILCA 7 fleet also completed two complicated sleeves, marked by weather. Leo Barreto was able to sign a 12 in the first partial, which made him raise five posts on the table and place the thirty-sixth. Joaquín Blanco is located in 45th square.
Tomorrow, it is the penultimate day of French Olympic Week competition for the Kite Formula and iQFOiL, both in male and female category. The tests to be held will serve to decide the Top10 that will pass to the Medal Series of each discipline, scheduled for Thursday, with Friday as a day of reservation. The rest of the classes will continue their tests of the qualifying series tomorrow.
