The Tenaz de Pablo Garriga is the new Spanish champion of J70, a championship held at the Real Club Nautico in Barcelona. He was accompanied on the podium by the HangTen- Hnos. Berga de Jorge Martínez Doreeste and third finished the HSN Sailing Team of Luis Martínez Doreeste.

Eighteen teams competed in the race fields under slightly softer conditions than the previous day, with wind of a southeast component that rolled south and waves of half a metre.

The Tenaz, with the world champion Rayco Tabares as tactical, was able to perfectly raise the day. With a third position on the first sleeve of the day, it was placed in the leadership position, exceeding the HSN Sailing Team by one point. With two quarters on the following sleeves, the local ship ensured victory with a five-point margin over the second one.

The great protagonist of the day was the HangTen, who defended the title of champion, but woke up late. With a sixth and two first in the three sleeves, he ended up tied to points with the HSN.

The HSN Sailing Team, which had won the subchampionship last year, was unable to maintain its position and ended up in third place. Four points behind them was the G75 of the Swedish Per Roman, with Gustavo Martínez Doreste as the patron.

On the other hand, the Noticia de Luis Martín Cabiedes, champion of Spain in 2021, had ups and downs in the final day, winning the first manga, but being sixth in the second and disqualified in the third.

The J70 fleet will continue this spring with the latest Barcelona Spring Series race, the Count of Godó Trophy and the Spanish-Sailway Cup in Vigo, which will close the Sailway Series circuit.

The first manga was taken with the Tenaz authority of Pablo Garriga with Rayco Tabares to the tactic, followed by the canary Jorge Martinez with his hang Teng-Hnos. Berga and third was his older brother Luis, at the command of the HSN Sailing Team.

On this occasion it was the Swedish Garm with Hugo Rocha to the tactic and the lanzaroteño Gonzalo Morales to the trimming, was second, and closed the podium again the canaries of the HSN Sailing Team.

In the third manga he began to blow with some left-hand rachas, but in the middle of the first girth the typical Barcelona garry was started, and all the ships on the right of the field went up positions, such as the German Diva and the Catalans of Bodegas Can Marlés. The race continued with many dances in the classification of each buoy and finally gained it again Tenaz with a certain advantage against its competitors and pointed in its personal locker two wins in the day, placing itself as a better boat of the day, but still one more race was missing.

Second was Cobra, by Pedro Sotomayor and Gonzalo Romagosa, who made a splendid race. And third were the pliers of the Let it Be, which thanks to this post were consolidated as leaders of the Corinthian category. The other favorites did not play podium and were loaded with points on this sixth manga of the championship.

In the fourth and final manga of the day, it was the canaries of the HSN Sailing Team who went back and managed to get over the Swedish Garm at the first door of the sotavent so as not to release the lead in what was left of the race. After the canaries, she crossed the line of arrival Garm, and was third the young Majorcan Maria Bover with her Balearia, demonstrating her good doing with the J70.

He ended up the day as the HSN the best ship of the day and became the leader of the general rating, followed by two points of Tenaz and the Swedish Garm in the third drawer of the podium. Today everything will be decided in the waters of Barcelona, with a forecast of soft winds of southern component and pleasant temperatures. It can still pass everything, equality at the top is maximum and five ships can take the award of Spanish champions.

It began in the waters of the City of Condal, under the baton of the Royal Nautical Club of Barcelona... the Spanish Championship of the monotype of reference all over the planet: the J70... 18 teams and a total of 6 countries, are competing and have already written the first act... the summary that after the first three sleeves, there is much equality in the head of the fleet.

The first race began with an interesting struggle between the canaries of the HSN Sailing Team and the Swedish Garm, followed by close to Hnos. Berga, Tenaz and Noticia. After spectacular plans of more than 18 knots of high speed, and some of the other, the first sleeve was carried by very little the Swedish Garm, followed very close to HSN and third was Noticia.

In the second manga the wind increased its intensity, it was Hnos. Berga who rode first in barlovento and HSN stuck to his stern. During the entire race there were many dances in the top of the ranking among six teams: Can Marlés, Tenaz, HSN, Hnos. Berga, Garm and Noticia.

High-flight meeting in the world of monotypes... Barcelona hosts the National of J70... a championship will begin on Thursday, a day for the official measurement and weighing of the participating ships, and will end on Sunday after three days of race, with an initial program of 12 sleeves... that will match the second act of the Barcelona Spring Series, which began last month and will end in early May.

As usual, a high level of participation is expected with several teams from countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Austria and Spain. Although only the Spaniards will be eligible for the title of national champions, who will come from Catalonia, Galicia, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands and Valencia. The organization will be in charge of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, the Real Federación Española de Vela and the Spanish Association of Owners of J70.

National ranking

Like last year, the national ranking of the J70 class will be formed taking into account the results obtained in the Spanish championship and the Spanish Cup, holding this second event in the city of Vigo from June 21 to 23. In 2023, the current canary Luis Martínez Doreste of the HSN Sailing Team won the ranking, while his little brother Jorge proclaimed himself champion of Spain, in the championship held on the Galician island of La Toja leading his HangTen-Hnos team. Bitch.

The emotion is served because the equality and rivalry between the teams is total. The differences are minimal and any of the point ships can be proclaimed champion. Among these favorites we can highlight HangTen - Hnos. Berga, the current Spanish champion and winner of the Barcelona Winter Series 2023-24; HSN Sailing Team, ranking champion 2023 and winners of the first event of the Barcelona Spring Series; Tenaz, from Pablo Garriga usual in the pods of the class and current nº 2 of the national ranking; Noticia, from Luis Martín Cabiedes, silver in the last Barcelona Winter Series and pointer ship of the Catalan fleet; the Galician Marnatura, from Luis Bugallo who has already proclaimed himself the champion of Spain on previous occasions, as well as the leader of the current European Championship of the Palaírán, as of the current leader of the European Union, and of the former leader of the European Union.

On the part of the Atlantic fleet, it is already safe with Marnatura with Luis Arriola to the cane and it is very likely that they are also in line of departure:Laguardia & Moreira de Gonzalo Araújo, Abril Verde y Abril Rojo de Luis y Jorge Pérez Canal, Séneca W de Willy Alonso o Pazo de Cea de Ramón Ojea Jr.
