The III Engel & Völkers Trophy, organized by the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club, began in the Vizcaina waters of the Abra on a summer day with high temperatures, although with little wind. Therefore, only the J80 class monotypes were pointed out on the only route that could be held, while the test for the Regata and Cruise class ships had to be cancelled when the wind fell after the exit.
The young rural Kutxa of the School of Vela José Luis de Ugarte, patroniado by Nicolás Viar, won in the manga disputed with wind of the oeste--low-intensity northwest. Second was the Jet Set of Ibon Basáñez, third was the Mandovi DaleCandela of Ramón Zubiaga, fourth the Biobizz of José Azqueta, fifth the Fingolfin of Gonzalo Miguvarri, sixth the Brut of Juan Mocoroa and seventh the female Surne of Joana Abásolo. The exit was marked at 12 hours and the only test had its start at 15 hours by the whims of the wind.
The remaining two days of this 3rd Engel & Völkers Trophy will be held on April 27 and May 11.
