The twenty-second edition of the Trophy José Luis Azqueta of light sail ended with a lot of wind of 21 knots from the northwest, after a complicated weekend for navigation. To the south wind and very roll of Saturday, it was followed by a very intense one in the cold and rainy day that decided to the final winners in one of the most outstanding of the calendar that the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club program.
Adriano Vázquez, from the Nautical Club of Hondarribia, led the classification in ILCA 4, with the second cantabre Joaquín Cavero and the third Gipuzcoan Ion Ancisar. In addition, Paul Emezabal, from the Real Club Náutico de San Sebastián, was first in ILCA 6 with 6 points, one less than the local Gaspar Gallinger, second. The peaches Perico Basterra and Martín Bueno were third and fourth with eleven points after the three sleeves held, the last of them very pretty with wind of almost 20 knots. In the second day of this Trophy, only one tour was carried out for ILCA 4 and 6, in a race field where visibility was so reduced that the Committee had to cancel the evidence in which the exit had already taken place.
In class 420, Jon Berástegui and Emma Angulo, from the Royal Abra Maritime Club, were imposed with Fran Lenz and Ivan Sales in the second position. In the FEVA class they concluded in the first square Alba Torre and Martín Díaz Munio, of the Real Club Náutico de Castro-Urdiales, with also the cantabra Cristina Sierra and Leonor Rodríguez in the second position and Pablo Oraá and Eliza Parmar in the third. Tomás Alonso- Allende and Carlos Morata defeated in the Snipe class, ahead of Óscar Gómez and Arantza Viñas. Already in the Optimist class, training classes and regats were performed in the mode of team race.
The first one was the Eskarra team, formed by Laura Angulo, Jaime Arriola, Álvaro Bouza and Perico Zuazola. Second was the Machichaco composed of Andrea Periotto, Ignacio Buján, Mariana Arriola and Beltrán García, and third the Ay Madre with Lola Criado, Alfonso Domingo Aldama, Ana Arriola and Adela Penide... names in memory of José Luis Azqueta, Juanito Olavarri and Jorge Churruca... three great... essential in the centenary history of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club.

It began in the Vizcaina waters of the Abra, with very unstable wind, the Trophy José Luis Azqueta 2024 light sail, one of the most outstanding quotes of the calendar scheduled by the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club. From the early hours of Saturday, the ironing of the Club de Las Arenas brought together tens and dozens of boats of the Optimist, ILCA, FEVA, 420 and Snipe classes. After the preparation of the ships, the almost 100 regatists of Basque, Asturian and Cantabrian clubs went to the Abra to complete the first day according to the routes established by the Committee.
In the class 420 are leaders Jon Berástegui and Emma Angulo, from the Real Club Marítimo del Abra, and in the class FEVA are first Alba Torre and Martín Díaz Munio, from the Real Club Náutico de Castro- Urdiales. Meanwhile, Adriano Vázquez of the Royal Nautical Club of Hondarribia heads the table in ILCA 4 and Gaspar Gallinger of the host Club is first in ILCA 6 after two sleeves. In addition, in the Optimist class, which presented the novelty of competing for teams, a training day was held.

This event is organized by the Maritime of the Abra-Real Sporting Club and the School of Vela José Luis de Ugarte, with the collaboration of the Vizcaine and Vasca de Vela Federations, the City of Getxo, the Foral Diputación of Bizkaia and El Correo.

The José Luis Azqueta Trophy returns, one of the tests, as is the José Luis de Ugarte Trophy, most prominent in the Cantábrico. More than 100 regatists from the Optimist, ILCA, FEVA and 420 and Snipe classes will participate, with regatists from different communities in this special sports event.
The Optimists are going to be tested for team racing. The Club has already separated this category by organizing the OptiGetxo, with the aim of programming an Optimist race in our entity. We will test the competition for small-scale equipment and, if it works well, next year we will value making an Optimist race for more important equipment. We are waiting this weekend for more than 100 regatists from the clubs in northern Spain.
It thus returns to the Vizcaina waters of the Abra this championship that will be decided in the regatta fields of the Abra on six planned routes (three on Saturday, April 6, from 13: 00, and three on Sunday, 7: 00). After the development of these tests the winners will be known in the Optimist classes by teams, FEVA, 420, Snipe, ILCA 4 and ILCA 6, in one of the most relevant quotes of each season in this light sailing mode.
