According to the Association, this consensus between schools has not been produced for years. The association has again resurrected the result of the malaise caused between schools and Conselleria do Mar (Photo Alfredo Bastos)
Last January AGEENAR (Association of Recreation Nautical Education Companies) launched a general appeal to all approved water schools in Galicia to meet in Santiago de Compostela. This first call has an unexpected scope, as it is able to set up at the same table the vast majority of active Galician schools and to agree on different ways of dealing with the problems of the sector.
Since the Association, they have requested a meeting with the Conselleria do Mar in order to be able to deal directly with the Xeral Desenvolvimento Directorate and the Conselleiro itself the issues that are most urgently affecting the field of nautical teachings:
- Reduction in the number of review calls.
- Late publication of calls.
- Unilateral decision-making and lack of consultation of the guild.
In the middle of February, the dates of the published examinations are not yet in place, which has a direct impact on the activities of the schools, as they see their organizational plan of course calendars, recruitment of staff, etc.
The Association calls for greater involvement by the Xunta and, above all, for schools to be heard and taken into account when setting the number of calls and their dates.
AGEENAR considers it a serious mistake to reduce calls, since our coasts being a unique element in our country, should be able to take our sector to the highest and to the deparking with the promotion not only of nautical sports but also of nautical tourism.
The Association has sent a formal communication to the Consellery to hold a meeting in which to deal with these and other issues vital to the náutico-sports development of Galicia, and for the time being waiting for an official response from the Xunta.
