The fourth event of the Barcelona Win-ter Series of J70 was held in Barcelona waters. On this occasion the wind failed and blew very gently, although it did not prevent almost 20 ships from being on the starting line.
On the first day of the championship, the committee sent the fleet to the water in the middle of the day, with the first scheduled departure at 1: 00. After a brief postponement at sea, while waiting for the intensity to rise subtly, the committee managed to carry out two tests. The J70 were sailing with a south component wind blowing at a few 4 or 5 knots. However, two of the three sleeves planned could be completed. In the first race, it was the older brother Luis Martínez Doreeste, who managed to impose on the command of the Monjo II with some advantage over his most immediate followers, who this time were the German Diva, and the Spanish Cobra and HangTen - Hnos. Berga, little brother Jorge Martínez Doreeste. While in the second manga, it was the Germans of Diva who commanded in the race and managed to impose themselves with authority, followed by a few meters - again - of Cobra de Gonzalo Romagosa and HangTen. Bitch. After two sailing races, the partial classification was led by Diva, Cobra's second, HangTen-Hnos. Berga and Monjo II.
On Saturday, the 17 J70 teams went to the race field and after waiting for the wind to make an act of presence, the committee decided to suspend all the tests of the day. On Sunday, the committee published an announcement at the TOA that advanced at 11.00h the attention signal of the ter- cera regata of the trophy. That time, Monjo II was reimposed as the first day and won the race, while German Diva, leader of the previous day, made a tenth and lost his choices for the final triumph. Cobra, by Gonzalo Romagosa, ended up in sixth position, allowing him to remain in positions of head and HangTen - Hnos. Berga, he was second to keep his options intact to the final triumph.
The wind was still soft and made the crews work hard. In the fourth and final manga was the Seriousfun of the British Tony Hayward who first crossed the line of arrival, followed by Monjo II after a spectacular rallying which placed him at the top of the podium in this fourth Barcelona Winter Series event. The second drawer was for Cobra, who again repeated with a sixth place. In third position, HangTen-Hnos was finished. Berga, and with-tinuas as leader of the general classification with a total of 57 points, after 25 sleeves disputed, the second place of the general is for the French Sevy of Jean- Yves Martin with 90 points, and the bronze is for the moment for Seriousfun with 98 points.
J70 BARCELONA WINTER SERIES 2023-2024 CLASIFGRAL.
Next February, from 23 to 25, it will be the last event of these Barcelona Winter Series of J70, and all points out that the final triumph will be for Jorge Martínez Doreste and his HangTen-Hnos team. Berga, who has certainly always been fighting at the top of all the series sailing this winter and is one of the reference teams of the Spanish fleet of J70. For this new race, the Real Club Náutico in Barcelona is waiting for more foreign teams to participate and perhaps the 20 registered ones are operating, which serves as a magnet for many other teams that seek to compete at a good level in this monotype class.
