The third edition of the Digital Nautical Trophy in Las Arenas (Photo José Capeillo) was completed.
The HibLab School of Vela José Luis de Ugarte of Nicolás Viar in the J80 class, the Maitena of Mikel Emaldi in the Regata class, the Turi of Simon Cortés in Cruise I and the Kohen of Juan Carlos Estefanía in the Cruise II class were proclaimed winners of the III Digital Nautical Trophy, which in the third and last day suffered the adverse weather conditions in the Abra. For this reason, only two tests were held in the J80 class, with a north-west wind of 15 to 30 knots, both won by the HibLab of Nico Viar.
The Digital Nautics began last January with two days planned. The first determined the favorites and also the final winners in Cruise and Regata, as the absence of wind had forced to cancel the second day in these classes. In the third, with a lot of wind and complicated sea in the Cantabrian, only the monotypes of the J80 division sailed.
In this way, the HibLab School of Vela José Luis de Ugarte de Nicolás Viar, with four first and a second place in the five tests completed in the total championship, clung to the leadership with 4 points between the J80 monotypes ahead of the Hib-Brut, already ten points, with the Mandovi dalecande ELA third in the general classification of this division.
They were followed by the Jet Set, Pilgrim, Obelix, Fingolfin - two seconds on the final day - Surne and Wilco. On the other hand, the Maitena of Mikel Emaldi was the first in the Regata class thanks to his triumph in the first day, in which the Thelonious of Jon Garai ended in the second position and the Symphony
of veteran patron Javier Onaindia was third. In this class, the Javier-varri Rat Pack, Carlos Maidagan's Despeinada, Alfonso Churuca's Alpega, Mauricio Guibert's Akelarre and Miguel Arriola's Uso Fuela were then classified.
In class II, thanks to that victory in the initial day, he received the first trophy the Turi of Simón Cortés, while the Bacilon of José Miguel Franco finished second and the Nexus of Javier Trueba was placed in the third square. In Cruise II, the Kohen of Juan Carlos Estefanía confirmed his
favouritism in the test he scored, with the Ramper of Jairo López de Guevara second in this class.
2024-02-07: Final Day of the Digital Nautical Trophy in the Open

HibLab, Maitena, Turi and Kohen defend their leadership in the decisive trials on Saturday, February 10
The III Digital Nautical Trophy for ships of the Regata, Cruise and J80 class of the Vizcana fleet comes to an end this Saturday in the Vizcaine waters of the Abra. The first test of the calendar scheduled by the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club for this year 2024 concludes with the tours to be established by the Committee of Regates. This Trophy began last January and had two days planned. The first determined the favorites as the second had to be overturned by the absence of wind.
So, now, the HibLab School of Vela José Luis de Ugarte de Nicolás Viar, with two first and a second place in the only three completed tests, is the leader with 4 points among the J80 monotypes, ahead of the Mandovi dalecandeELA of Ramón Zubiaga, second to 5 points, and the Jet Set of Ibón Basáñez, third in the general classification of this division. Behind them are the Pilgrim, Obelix, Hib-Brut, Surne and Wilco. For its part, the Maitena of Mikel Emaldi is first in the Regata class, in which the Thelonious of Jon Garai follows him in second position and the Symphony of veteran patron Javier Onaindia is third. 2024-01-27: No wind on the second day of the Digital Nautical Trophy in the Open

HibLab, Maitena, Turi and Kohen will therefore come as leaders to the February 10 decisive day
The lack of wind played a bad pass in the waters of the Abra to the ships of the Cruise class and J80 of the Vizcaine fleet on the second day of the III Digital Nautical Trophy, proof of the calendar of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club. The Regatta Committee tried to make a departure on the noon of a Saturday more typical of the summer than the winter season we are in.
The wind just appeared with the intensity necessary for the ships to sail on the routes marked in the Abra and the second day had to finally be cancelled. Now, it will be the third, last and decisive day of February 10 that decides the winners of this 3rd Digital Nautical Trophy that, for the moment, is led by the HibLab School of Sailing José Luis of Ugarte of Nicolás Viar in the J80 class, by the Maitena of Mikel Emaldi in the Regata class, by the Turi of Simon Cortés in Cruise I and by the Kohen of Juan Carlos Estefanía in the Cruise class II.
