The 10th Regata Ciudad del Puerto, Trophy Excellence Cup of Optimist has had the organization of the CN Puerto Sherry in collaboration with the RFEV, the Superior Council of Sports and the Excellence Cup, with the sponsorship of Puerto Sherry, Junta de Andalucía and Diputación de Cadiz, and the support of the Andalusian Federation of Vela (FAV), the City Council of El Puerto de Santa María, the Harbour Authority Bahia de Cadiz, ABD Consulting and Computer Solutions and Carex Logistic
The Catalan Iker Mugica, the Valencians Marta Ferrando and Conor Woods, the Portuguese Guilherme Magalhaes and María Do Mar Costa and the Inés Rodado Balar, are the champions of the tenth edition of the Port City Regata, Trophy Excellence Cup of Optimist that now ends in the waters of the Gaditana Bay.
Mugica, a regatist of the CN de Cambrils, is the absolute champion of the Andalusian test of the Trophy Excellence Cup, the third after those held in Vigo and Palma de Mallorca, and equator of a circuit that has three other races to finish, in Torrevieja, Palamós and Valencia. The Catalan is used two 1 and a third to solve the tie on his side with his local and club partner, Joan Domingo, subchampion with two 2 and one 1.
Both shared fleet, and in the other he sailed the third classified, the Andalusian Felipe Pachón of the Benalmádena CNM, winner of the first test in his group, then adding a 4th and a 7th. The three make up the absolute podium and Sub 16 male. Among the girls the winner is the Valencian Marta Ferrando since the top11 of the general, regatist who improved an 18th in the first trial with a 4th and a 6th in the other two, and together with her in the winning drawer, the Catalan Agnes Hadzi Janev and the Portuguese Leonor Lopes, second and third respectively.
He had a hundred percent Portuguese in Sub 13 male, with the victory of Guilherme Magalhaes, 9th, 5th and 9th and top10 of the general, followed by his countrymen Diogo Costa and Antonio Champalimaud. Among the girls, the Inés Rodado, the second absolute in the category, is very solitaire, escorted on the female podium by the Valencian Alexandra Wangliu and the Catalan Abril Marfa, second and third by this order.
Among the youngest, Sub 11, the first absolute place is for a girl, the Portuguese Maria do Mar Costa, and among the children the regatist of Javea, Conor Woods. The podiums are completed by the Torreviejense Arturo Chumilla and the regatist of the CN Elcano de Cadiz, Daniel Barrios, second and third, respectively, among the boys, and the Andalusian Petra Murube of the CN Sevilla, subchampion, and Ana Fernández del RCN de Cadiz in the female fleet.
Following the race was the delivery of trophies in the new facilities of the CN Puerto Sherry on the asphaltic beach of the marina, in an event that was attended by the youth and sports councilman of the City Council of El Puerto de Santa María and Andalusian parliamentarian, José Ignacio González Nieto, along with Joaquín Valero, president of the Spanish Association of the International Optimist class (AECIO), Daniel Martínez and Kiko Sánchez Prieto, comfororo and manager of the CN Puerto Sherry, respectively. During it, a total of 26 trophies were delivered to the first five in the categories Sub 16 and Sub 13, and the first three Sub 11, in all cases in male and female versions.
The race that ends today will not go through the wind, but it can boast of organization and a great atmosphere among the participants, family and technicians who have received the year in El Puerto de Santa María. The City of the Port race on its tenth anniversary, celebrates its seventh year as an Excellence test and consolidates the CN Puerto Sherry as an organizer of one of the most prestigious races in the national and autonomous calendar.
