It has finally been Hungary that has registered its name in gold letters as the first winner of the Sailing World Cup, the SSL Gold Cup (Photo Martina Osini)

The first edition of the SSL Gold Cup, the Sailing World Cup in the image and likeness of a final phase of the football, was awarded by Hungary, which in the great final to three powers in the sailing world as are Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, which were second, third and fourth, in this order.

The Spanish team, which has counted during the Gran Canaria SSL Gold Cup with the support of Murimar Seguridad, reached the final after having joined a second and four first posts in a consecutive way, but in the great final it was not possible to follow in this line of results and finally the SSL Team Spain would end in fourth position, closing the final to four.

The wind was soft and very roll between 6 and 7 knots of intensity, the great danger were the roles and wells of wind, the one who saw them best, would be the one who would take the cat to the water, as it did. Hungary was the most consistent team, and the rest did what they could, fighting each other always far from the leader.

The SSL Team Spain made a good exit along with Italy and the Netherlands to the left of the race field, while Hungary decided to go to the counter of the other ships and make a race in solitaire, which in the end would be a good result.

The key to the race was on the arrival in Barlovento, where the Spanish team came with a minimal advantage, but it changed before time, which caused the Hungarians to take advantage of this movement to overcome the Spanish ship, which had made a great first girdle, to place itself in the head, place they no longer left.

Meanwhile Spain tried, always sailing on the left side of the race field, especially along with Italy, as the Netherlands chose the right, but it did not serve to hunt Hungary.

From there Spain risked to hunt the ships before it, but it was not possible. The loose wind did not give too many options, which would end up closing the final in fourth position.
